Don't know if this just applies to USA shipped bikes, but it appears some were shipped from the factory, WITHOUT oil in final drives

Worse still, some USA dealers didn't check @ PDi   .................so there are bikes trundling around in USA without oil.

Again, don't know if it affects UK..............but might be worth looking or enquiring if there's a recall here in UK

OH B**LOCKS !

ALL the bikes come fully emtpy to dealers acctually. It's the dealers who have to put engine, gearbox and FD oils.

So blame the speciefic dealer, not the factory.

This case probably has something to do with 1150 confusion with 1200 that has closed FD box.

I've been outside and checked the 650 Dakar... all present and correct, no problems :dabone

Tsiklonaut... don't think so. Bike's come to the dealers here in England with all the oils etc.

And everywhere else based on the BMW Motorrad Pre-Delivery Check.

As far as oils go, it only states to check the engine oil level and add oil as necessary.

In any case, the dealer should also do all lubricant level checks as a final check.

Ur maybe right. Never bought new bike meself. Just taked it from 1150 factory repair manual made for dealers where was written the very first oils putting in (mineral oil that was). Dunno, maybe it was for US market then :nenau

Well they won't be trundling anywhere for long!!!!
As a matter of interest, our very own Steptoe suggests changing this oil at half the recommended mileage, and if it's good enough for hime........... :thumb
