Late September Wander 2014 Malta, Austria and the Adriatic coast PROVISIONAL ONLY

Well if this is going ahead and it looks like it at moment, my intention would be to use the above crossing.

Sailing out from Newcastle Wednesday 17/9 17.00 , arriving Ijmuiden 10.00 Thurs 18/10, plenty time to meet up with the rest of the group at Clervaux.

Return sailing from Ijmuiden Thurs 2/10 17.00, arriving Newcastle 09.00 Friday 3/10 for the drive home.

The cost for the return journey including bike is £240 for a single passenger in a 2bed seaview cabin

or £332 for 2 people sharing with 2 bikes.

Anybody interested in sharing let me know. Btw I snore very loudly, you have been warned :augie

Richard let me know if you think im getting ahead of myself here, the plan looks great to me my only preference perhaps would be to do something different on the return after Zams, however im happy to go along with whatever is agreed and stick with the group accomodation wise.

I would be interested in a Newcastle or Hull crossing

Imagine my surprise not to be on the list. Didn't I say I'd go, Richard? My fault for not checking earlier.

I may start a rival trip for those on the reserve list. :D

EDIT: Oh, hang on - I think it was the Easter trip I said yes to. Anyone considering joining a rival trip - please bear in mind that this is a demonstration of my organisational skills!

I was thinking of using the hull crossing, as I have a booking I need to use. Let me know if you decide to use hull, maybe we could meet up on the boat.

I was thinking of the hull ferry even though I live in Sunderland as I think to many arsonists of the Newcastle one, apart from that you can't get a good nights sleep for the pissheads who are up all night,,,,,and it's not me honest,,,,,

Hello everyone.

I am locking this thread just whilst I get my head around where bods are coming from / going back to.

Nothing sinister.

Will re-open next weekend when I have finished battling with the sheets of paper etc.

Richard

Right, spring is here and I have dug the bike out, got my first three Wanders sorted out, so it's definitely time to get something going.

From a sensible look at the likely time available, I don't think we'll have time to join John on his jaunt to the Adriatic. It simply adds too many days.

I am working on changing the plans to suit. We can still make it down to Austria and come back through the Dolomites, no problem. I have been in contact with various hotels which encourages me that we can find rooms.

Which brings us to what rooms bods would like....

I can imagine that the doubles will want a double room; what I don't know if whether the others on their own will want a single room or whether they are happy to share. Put simply, John hasn't got that many single rooms.

Can fellows let me know, please.

Either sharing a Twin or a Single berth is fine for me, ideally a mix of both where appropriate usually works well on a 10-12 day jaunt, where possible

What he said, happy to share a twin but if the opportunity of a single is there for a night or two I would take that.

Although I never reached higher on the list, other than the request to go as reserve....if a place come available Sandy and I'd like a double/twin please....? :)

Richard, if you manage to squeeze me in :) either sharing a twin or a single would do it for me. Whatever makes your life easier :)

The great on-off-on Wander, is turning into a nightmare.

We are going through a fundamental reorganisation at work. Nothing sinister but will probably mean a change of role for me, the outlines if which only became clearer yesterday. This has been bubbling away since before Christmas but will not come into play from the start of our new financial year, commencing 01 May. As a part of this, I may have to be at work right in the middle of when we planned to go. I had hoped that dropping Istria out of the plans would mean I could shift the dates a bit, but from what we talked about yesterday I really can't see how it will help.

The tricky thing is that none of the formal reorganisation starts before May, before which nothing is really certain. I can't leave things on the organisation plans until May and I can't say for sure at the moment what is going to happen work / travel wise; I have got to assume I am going to be tied up.

I don't think it's fair on everyone to hang on whilst a City reinsurance broker (whose greatest concern is not my holiday or other bods' motorcycling) reorganises itself; though I do have to be patient with them as they pay my salary! I can't see much option but to knock this one on the head; annoying but I cannot see a way around it at the moment.

Richard

As JB says, shame, no doubt there will be other chances to experience a 'Wapping Special'...:thumb

Good luck with the upheaval...

Work always comes first, its what pays for the fun stuff, don't feel bad about your decision mate, perhaps we can look at the plan again another year, Istria is a great and interesting place to visit.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for letting us know, and I quite understand the need to prioritise work. Hope to see you soon.

Matt :)
