Lots of people cut all the wires off when they fit the 590 to their bikes because they use blue tooth and don't want them. I coiled mine up and cable tied them to the unused US charcoal filter bracket under the right hand panel of my GS and threaded the USB connector under my seat just in case I ever want to use it to charge my phone (I haven't yet).
The 590 is a great bit of kit and some recent posts on here indicate that the price is coming down to a more acceptable amount.
