Looks grim

I think i saw what looked like the new 1300GS at a bike rally this last weekend.
Yep, it is definitely the new model.

(With apologies to Craigholt)

Leave it alone. No need to drag out a simple observation I made and appear more of a condescending twat than most see anyway.

I enjoy your magazine posts, but a link would be fabulous too, for those who can't find the zoom button, or perhaps to refer to later.

Carry on.

I heard from someone in the trade that it looks highly unlikely to be launched in 2023. Just not ready for market. One could argue that it won’t be ready for market until a year after the launch anyway! :)

Were that the case then surely they wouldn't be discounting the current batch so heavily - they tend to discount with a couple of mths to launch date. Anyways...some more stuff.. not read through yet but see it will have adaptive ride height, leccy screen, no large tft but retains a separate sat nav, and locking panniers, as leaked https://www.ukgser.com/community/th...s1300-is-happening.321438/page-5#post-4739682

On the AR forum, ynguldyn has confirmed that production of series R 1300 GS started in May, currently the demo bikes for dealers. GSA starts production in June 2024, will be the same 1300 engine.

For those interested in the RT "Production starts in November 2024. Mechanical and electronic differences with the current model are pretty much the same we're about to see officially introduced on the GS. Will get active aero of some kind and audio by Marshall."

About the only thing I like on that new design (from the spy shots anyway) is the fact they seem to be using panniers which aren't so boxy and fugly. Jury's out on the rest of it. I may be alone here but I liked the last of the 1200's and 1250's with asymmetric headlamps which were an identifying feature. I don't like the new lights tucked into where the old air intakes were and as for the slightly bulbous radar housing where the lights should be.... As for "central locking".....????? Nothing about it would tempt me to part with what it's likely to cost. I'd rather defect and buy a V100 Mandello which at least looks original and stunning, or stick with the 1200/1250..

It needs to lose weight not gain it.

This bike has big changes.....cast aluminium frame, ride height automatically lowering at low speed/stop, Sky Sport free for one year. Its narrower and, apparently, has not gained to much weight. Yet to see if it gets the RT screen and sat nav.
laughed out loud at the 'sky sports free for a year' in the middle of that....

Just realised, the aftermarket guys must be loving the fact that BMW has rightly ignored the silly noise around the multicluster indicators. Going to continue to sell a shed-load of indicator kits to the kids.

Given its in road test mode, with lots of early spyshots etc...

I'd say launch will be Aug/ Sept this year ..

Loads of new electronic features, just waiting to fail ... ;)

There ok while they work , but when they dont, its like a house of cards ......

MORE CREAR PICS.

Must be the first clear pictures of the bike without the panniers attached.

That Front end looks a bit over the top with all the bits of various plastic, nooks and crannies.
Got to be the ugliest GS yet. What looks like should be a headlight, is actually a radar the size of the dinner plate. Really is horrid looking thing.

I am not moaning - Just my opinion.

SPECIFICATION.

Agree with the exhaust and that front end really isn’t nice.

Will wait to see them in the flesh, but don’t see me looking to change based on looks alone.

Way out of my price league ,even the 1250s , I’ll stick with my tc , it does about 90% of what the new ones do .

Looks like they've kept the telelever front end which will please some I guess. Rad positions look similar to the current bike. Can't say it appeals to me looks wise and is still behind the competition for power output, not that you need anymore than the current one. Even the current GS TE's price is a tad too salty for me at just under 20k so not for me.

If new GS has a wet weight of 250kg, I dread to think what the Adventure will weigh at, with its massive fuel cell and all the extra scaffolding. Another 20-30kg?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the price would get bumped up to the Multistrada V4 territory. People will still buy it, because of its name sake and sheer must have popularity. Not to forget three year PCP deals on repeat, and BMW boffins as well as bean counters will tempt the punter to change now three year old awesome steed for a mildly refreshed looks, and perhaps an even bigger TFT screen, or a couple of “special” yellow stickers and a pair of yellow handgurad’s, smothered with “Option 719” on them.
