Morning all

I'm absolutely loving the GSA experience so far after only a few weeks of ownership :)

Unfortunately I have to go to Brazil for work for some football competition so my bike will be sat lonely and unridden for a while :(

The question is: battery stays on or battery off and sat on Optimate? (There's no power where the bike is stored)

Is six weeks of idleness going to flatten the battery and are there any issues I should be aware of before removing it and then connecting it back up again?

Cheers
Jon

Often have to leave mine for 2 months or so going and froing Crete to UK over last 4 years.
If power available, Otimate connected to bike (don't use manufacturer's socket. Canbus shuts it down, connect direct to battery. If no power available , battery off bike, connect to Optimate or charge up when I return. Choice is yours. Have done both, seems to make no difference.

Only "issue" I can recall when replacing battery is to reset the clock.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping.

Time to finish my chores and then head out for a quick run while the suns out.

Left mine at t5 for six weeks all good when I came back, you have not said old your bike/battery

It's a 2007 (Lee Frosts old bike) and assuming it's on original battery. Though maybe not looking at the way Lee and the previous owners looked after it. I feel a bit guilty, I've ridden it in the rain and got some mud on it :)

Remove the battery to the house, charge up fully, and disconnect the charger.

Battery will remain in good state, and should only take a small top-up ...... If that.

If you do remove the battery, after reconnection you need to switch on the ignition (without starting) and move the throttle across it's full movement a couple of times to register the TPS range with the controller.

Ohh you poor thing having to go to Brazil for the world cup.
Must be torture :)

Yes, it is awful, but at least I'm getting paid for being out there.

I'm sure I'd read about resetting the throttle somewhere which is why I thought I'd ask and see if it came up.
