Has anybody ridden any distance with both the low and standard seats, if so do you get less comfort with the lower seat.

The LC lower seat is a free option if ordered on the new bike, and although I can touch down reasonably okay sitting on the standard seat on it's low setting, the lower option might give me a bit more insurance touching down on loose gravel.

With some makes of bikes an optional low seat can tend to be bit on the hard side, but the GS might be different.

I was told the low seat had less padding in it, so perhaps it is a little harder.
What I did not find out were the heights between the low seat on the highest setting and the standard seat on the lowest setting.

Get the normal seat and see how you get on. You could always send it to Tony Archer to be resculpted, if necessary.:thumb

I've got the lower seat on mine as the standard was too tall for my 30" inside leg. I rode from Surrey to Wales and found the seat comfortable enough, with regular fuel\coffee breaks.
I can get the ball of my foot down when the bike is upright and my whole foot flat if I lean the bike over slightly. I would prefer the pegs to be maybe an inch lower, but generally the riding position is good.

The standard seat on lowest is 1 cm higher than the low seat on highest.

Funny how just a few CM make a lot of difference -I've had to set my low seat to the lowest setting...to give me a fighting chance of getting on bike :D

I have the low seat as I'm a short arse.
I rode 600 miles last weekend, no problems. It is far more comfortable than the previous low seat on my other gs's when I my arse got sore at about the 500 mile stage.

I find the low seat just as comfy as the standard, maybe a different type of foam is used.

Another tosser in Scunthorpe :)

I'm a Light weight and the stock seat hurt my ass after 100 miles and than tried gelastic insert not much better so now brought one of these.

So how is the Touratech seat then, you didn't say!

I will let you no 2mo when I've done a couple hundred miles and first impression it feels harder than the stock seat about the same as my Sargent on the TC however the stock seat allowed me to tip toe the TT feels slightly higher due to less sag in the seat not a lot tho but I'm told needs breaking in and its very well made but for what it cost it should be, matching rear TT seat is £340 but as no one goes pillion the cheapest option is for tony archer to make me a matching cover for the rear.

I could have gone with the Lower version but than i find my little legs get cramp in the knees

You mean, this is the standard version? It looks like a low seat to me.

Yes it's the standard height version, i have it set in the low position but after 100 miles today I'm starting to feel uncomfortable and have to move around on the seat I'm not sure if the seat needs breaking in ! It certainly takes the spark out the bike for me and I cant carry on like this, never had this issue with my TC .

I roadtested a GS1200LC with the "low seat" and it's good, but you can feel the mounting brackets/frame after a while.

On my own bike, I went for the standard seat in low setting as I valued the extra padding in the standard seat over distance...compare them side by side and you'll see what I mean.

I wear the HG Tuareg boots which have chunkier soles/heels (which I need having a challenged 30" inside leg, believe me)...and it works well.

I practice the "leg over" technique at home (no funny comments now) and I find it OK.

In many ways, riding a GS keeps me fit; who needs a gym. Buy a GS !!
