I tried to put the specs in the title to attract attention to the fact that this is a straightforward technical question, requiring just a Yes or No answer
.
On my (newly acquired) 2015 R1200GS TE (non-Adventure), I have what appear to be the standard BMW GS LC mirrors. The stems on these mirrors are both M10 x 1.25 pitch left hand thread (on L&R mirrors) and these are mounted onto M10 x 1.5 pitch right hand threaded aluminium inserts, which screw into the black clamps on the bars.
My question is; is this the factory standard/correct spec?
The reason I ask is that I have been trying, without any success, to buy an off-the-shelf mirror extender kit for the bike. The ones that turned up (from China) today were mentioned in a thread (on here) as fitting an LC, but they are completely wrong for mine - they have right hand threads in the wrong pitch for both mirrors and came with screws that are too coarse to go into the inserts in the mirror clamps
.
Also, I almost gave up looking for a cheap set nearly ordered a 'proper' set from SW Motech (https://www.motohaus.com/mirror-extension-universal-black-m10.html), but when I read the small print it said that they are only for, "models with right hand thread on both sides"
!?
I am wondering if my mirrors may be non-standard, or if the (inch high) metal insert that screws into the clamp and into which the mirror stem screws, might be an aftermarket addition
!?
FWIW, I have now found several components that I can buy to create an affordable (£21) pair of mirror extenders for my bike, but out of curiosity (and for the sake of others who are trying to shop for these things, it would be nice if someone in the know could come along and give a definite answer please
