I tried to put the specs in the title to attract attention to the fact that this is a straightforward technical question, requiring just a Yes or No answer :D .

On my (newly acquired) 2015 R1200GS TE (non-Adventure), I have what appear to be the standard BMW GS LC mirrors. The stems on these mirrors are both M10 x 1.25 pitch left hand thread (on L&R mirrors) and these are mounted onto M10 x 1.5 pitch right hand threaded aluminium inserts, which screw into the black clamps on the bars.

My question is; is this the factory standard/correct spec? :nenau

The reason I ask is that I have been trying, without any success, to buy an off-the-shelf mirror extender kit for the bike. The ones that turned up (from China) today were mentioned in a thread (on here) as fitting an LC, but they are completely wrong for mine - they have right hand threads in the wrong pitch for both mirrors and came with screws that are too coarse to go into the inserts in the mirror clamps .

Also, I almost gave up looking for a cheap set nearly ordered a 'proper' set from SW Motech (https://www.motohaus.com/mirror-extension-universal-black-m10.html), but when I read the small print it said that they are only for, "models with right hand thread on both sides" :nenau !?

I am wondering if my mirrors may be non-standard, or if the (inch high) metal insert that screws into the clamp and into which the mirror stem screws, might be an aftermarket addition !?

FWIW, I have now found several components that I can buy to create an affordable (£21) pair of mirror extenders for my bike, but out of curiosity (and for the sake of others who are trying to shop for these things, it would be nice if someone in the know could come along and give a definite answer please :) .

I THINK the mirrors have inserts that change the threads, pull the rubber boot up to clarify, I got a couple of sets off Ebay & they fit ok

Yes, mine has a couple of inserts under the rubber boots on the mirrors, but don't they all!? Just not sure how they come from the factory. Maybe someone who's had their bike from new can comment :nenau .

If it's of any particular interest, to improve the rear view on my LC GSA i took off the standard mirrors and replaced them with a set of round mirrors off a pre LC model. They are exactly the same fitting and for me they give a better rear view...

Yes..

Those are the ones that I bought, too. Initially, I thought that they didn't fit because I was trying to leave the adapter in the handlebar (to provide some extra height for the bracket to clear the controls) and mount the mirror directly into the bracket. This is not possible because all of the threads are wrong. However, I subsequently realised that if I removed the adapter, bolted the extender to the bars (with the screws provided), then put the adapter into the other end of the extender and screwed the mirror into the adapter ... that would work. The only problem being, I would loose the extra height advantage of having the adapter below the extender and so would have to angle the whole assembly more towards the front of the bike to make it clear the cruise control switches.

Not sure if anyone followed that explanation, but I know what I mean :P .

I have some other brackets coming, which should allow me to fit the mirrors directly into them and in turn, allow me to angle them directly in line with the handlebars (thereby maximising the amount of extra width that I can get between the two mirrors). Let's see how it works out ...

The ones I linked to can be set a little higher with some longer M8 bolt and a few washers ... but use Loctite to secure the bolt whether it’s fitted standard height or higher. I left mine at the lower height but just positioned them to clear the switchgear, I don’t need any extra height but the extra inch or so width each side gives me a better view past my shoulders.
