LC test ride

The Standard exhaust is more than loud enough, the Akra sounds great for a couple of hours but after a full days riding it got on my tits, hence I have a standard system which is more than loud enough at the end of a full day in the Alps.

OK, so maybe I'm just getting too old :rob

However fags cards in the back wheel spokes of my push bike when I was 10, now that was a bloody fantastic sound! :P

I SOO needed to hear (boom boom) someone say this. Dramatic mistake splashing out on my first Akra narrowly avoided! Thank you, Sir.

I had an 1150 with a Remus pipe and the demo was an amazing orchestra, but your comments remind me how fed up I got on a trip to the Alps back then which was one of the reasons I got rid of it after only 5 months ownership. The cards in the spokes though, that’s a completely different thing altogether :D.

Hi
Mine has the standard pipe/ end can like you say plenty loud enough and the performance is great too, in fact it sounds awesome and I for one wont be spending £700 on an end can ever.

I've left the baffles in on my akro and I've found it very marginal in the sound difference between the stock can, however its dustbin size huge compared to the Remus i had. The Remus was more pleasing to the eye and the lines were perfectly matched but feck it was loud with baffles in, did my tree in after couple of hrs bashing down the autoroute.

I've gotta say, I made the deliberate choice to go Remus over Ackra because of the size. Like the standard can, the Ackra is bloody huge ... :blast

I thought my Akrapovic looked a bit big until I saw that spindly wee thing hanging off the side of that. It's probably also something to do with the wire wheels which lend it a sort of.....insubstantial......quality...... :P

The Akra may be a bit big, but the Remus is too small, IMO. It doesn't look right.:rob

that Remus belongs on a 125 two stroke ... not this 1200 ... sorry , but its ugly and you should get your money back

That's it Giles, the glitterati think your bike looks crap

The shame

Of not having the Akra, like the pack :(

Anyway who cares, it's how he rides it that counts & I think it looks better than the dustbin that BMW give you

Remus looks way better on the bike Giles, don't listen to them, they know nothing!

On previous GSa I always though Remus made boring looking pipes, very WMB ;) but they got it right on the WC

Mind you, we're I to get a GS I'd leave the standard pipe on as I like the look of it and it sounds lovely (it'd be, I think, the first bike I'd not put a pipe on?).

I don't think it looks crap, it's just a bit on the small side. I agree that the BMW can and the Akra are a bit on the large side, so something between the two would be good.:thumb

Maybe BMW put big exhausts on to impress the girls walking down the street?:P:D

Just for info - great service from Cal Sports - next day delivery and no problems.

Over £100 cheaper than Nippy at the moment ;)

First class purchase Paul. Your bike will now go from an anaemic burble to an enjoyable rumble, growl and off throttle popping. Ignore the pipe and slippers brigade who think the stock exhaust is satisfactory - our vehicles get too much tinkering by the EU bureaucrats and you should be able to storm the continent on your Bavarian stallion with an exhaust note to match the flight of the Valkyries playing via your in helmet mega sound system.

....ahh I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Cal sport have always been consistently very good value for money :thumb2

I think my pic makes the Remus look weedier than it really is - bike at a bit of an angle on the side stand opening up the gap under the rear subframe etc .. (spoked wheels ...).
In real life the Remus is a really good size and sounds as good as the Ackra. I much prefer under the radar KGB assassin stuff in all things. (Riding as well - no bells no whistles ... whoosh ... what was that :nenau Dunno ... Quiet efficiency .... :thumb).

So you can poke yer Ackra along with yer Breitling watches ... :barf

:D
