Hi all, just been trying to start my LC4 400 after a period of rest. Battery is charged, fresh fuel in tank-will it start? Will it buggery! Nothing but a click when pressing the button. Ah, battery is goosed, you are all saying, but voltage is good and doesn't drop significantly when the button is pressed. I've cleaned the earth to the frame, had the starter out and cleaned it. All looks ok apart from stretched rubber O rings. Spins up fine when attached to battery. Jump leads make no difference. Tried to kickstart, sounds like it just fires occasionally with easystart, but won't actually run. I can't keep kicking the fecker, my knees are too knackered! Any ideas, chaps? Starter solenoid? It was running and starting fine when it was put away, by the way, and since the starter clutch was done has started fine on the button. Where the positive lead from the battery goes into the starter motor is not rigid-not sure if it should be?

If you ever suspect a starter solenoid, try shorting across the terminals with a spanner etc. got me out of trouble a few times.

Thanks, Tim-excuse my ineptitude, do you mean while the starter button is pressed? There seems to be 12v + at the battery side of the solenoid-would I not get a poke and a shower of sparks?

No, with the ignition on, just bridge the live side of the solenoid with the other, you just want to see if it kicks the starter.
If it does you can use that method to start the bike until you get another solenoid ..................... if that's what's wrong with it.

Thanks, I'll give that a go! My instincts tell me that it's the battery, but jump leads to another battery made no difference.
