LD lines Poole to Santander

FOR those thinking of using this route; Returned last week from this crossing. After a lot of speculation I can say it was fine, possibly helped that the sea was calm both ways.

£160 return with a share of a cabin, but there was two of us, so only us in the cabin. Cabin was clean modern and bunks were wide and comfortable. Food was good, and the whole ship well fitted and adequate. No entertainment, but pay your money and take your choice. I would definitely use this again.

I'm heading that way to Santander on 29th august and retuning to via Gijon 2 weeks later...

Like you, my trip cost £160 return for an outside cabin. Not sure if i'll be sharing but at that price, couldn't really give a shite.

All sounds good..

More than that one way with Brittany ferries so it's a real bargain. Not sure if the £160 return is still available, the LD Lines on-line booking system isn't very logical, it just gives you all dates and seems to assume that you'll know which dates there are actually sailings on

It did include the bike, the price made the holiday possible--maybe it was that price as I booked in October or November, but still worth doing.

I used this crossing back in June. I was more than happy.
Best way I could describe it is 'cheap and cheerful'
Just a shame Gijon is so far across.

Hi I am trying to book last week September then returning two weeks later Poole Santander and return from GIJON but no timetable yet did try Brittany Ferries Economie for a cross channel trip to Le Mans its Ok so if price is right will go with LD otherwise Brittany ferries no change out of £450.00

DFDS & LDLines who jointly operate a number of routes are having a major review of their services. The Harwich to Denmark route has been axed for 2015 and I'm sure there will be other casualties as both companies operate with very narrow margins in a cut throat market dictated by freight contracts.

Just looked at their website and the route to Spain is ceasing on 7th Sept, no good for me I want to go out in October, bugger.

I'm waiting to book the SAINT-NAZAIRE-GIJÓN crossing for next month but they're taking no bookings at the moment.

Me to tried to book Poole Spain with LD bit told over the telephone that there would be no service until next May. Booked Brittany Ferries Plymouth Santander 28th September.
