I appreciate I may have missed something but does LD Lines/DFDS still run a service to France from Portsmouth as I can't choose that option on their website although it still shows on the ferry route graphic?

Nope, they were taken over by Brittany Ferries end of last summer.
Thanks. Bugger - they were cheap as chips which may explain why they're not doing it anymore.
Not sure that's correct; I've used them twice since then, end of September and mid-November, both Portsmouth to Le Havre return.
I returned from Bilbao with Brittany Ferries in the latter part of September 2014, the boat was rammed with with LD line passengers whose routes had been transferred to Brittany boats due to the Brittany take over ?

DFDS now own LD Lines, and still run the same routes................ Well they did in 2014 as I used them to get to Le Mans for the moto gp.

I think you will find that they have now pulled South Coast completely as they did not want to spend money on ships converting them to run on the new fuel or having scrubbers fitted so that they could continue to run on heavy oil. DFDS on the Dover route and Dunkirk have fitted scrubbers. You may find Brittany offering the economy service this year although I doubt it as this was a sister ship to the LD ship.
DFDS offer a Newhaven to Dieppe service too.
BF have an economy, overnight service from Portsmouth to Le Havre according to their website http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/ferry-routes/ferries-france/portsmouth-le-havre
Times are very similar to that previously offered by LDLines.
