Apologies to anyone that has already seen this elsewhere!

I have had a few requests to resurrect my old LDT and Rally Directory so thought I would give it a go. However, it will only be any good if it is complete and accurate so I need some help please!

Looking at my four-year old list there are a few events on there I can't find anything about for 2008 and/or 2009 and I would appreciate any advice as to whether they are still running, actual dates, or whatever.

The queries are as follows:

Fosseway LDT - Beginning of Feb or end September
The Tom Milton 2 Stage Trial - end September
Hafren Rally - beginning October
Wintry Road Trial - beginning November
Tuck Cross - beginning Feb
Patrick James Memorial Rally - end Feb
Wintry Road Trial - Camel Vale Club - 2 Nov 2009?
Wyegate Trial - are 2009 dates known?
End to End Trial - end March
Pendennis Flora Trial - middle May
Swindonian - middle May
Northumbrian Rally - middle May
Jubilee LDT - anyone know 2009 date?
Ryedale Rally - beginning June
Tempus Fugit Two Stage Trail Bike Trial - beginning June
Ivor Morkott Memorial Tour Of Caerphilly - middle July

Thanks in advance for any help - its a bigger job than I thought!!!!!

Brian

MAV Don't do it ......

no not suitable ... up to about 450cc Trail or Enduro bikes but the best seen to be honda XL / Xr 185/200 and serrow's ... I brought a EX army honda Xr 250 and got 2 miles till the Cam Sprocket came off .. my fault .
but a Good event but not for Twins

Thanks for the tip Gunner :thumb Looks like I'm gonna have to consider getting something small...

Hi Phil

The Wyegate is on the schedule at http://www.eventdirectory.org.uk/ - 5th April this year - an event on my "to do" list - but with the TTR250 - not the Beemer.

Cheers

Brian

Might not be a bad idea to add some information as to what kind of bikes are suitable for the events you have in your directory. Just an idea :thumb2

Thanks BrianS ... Mav

that is some load of info you have on the TTR site .. Great stuff
and sorry i missed the date ... I have been a few times and it always is on or about march the 17th (St Patricks Day in Ireland) easy to remember

Mav I see you have been out on the HP2 in cold weather .. fair play
we were supposed to have a Nav Run tomorrow but it is cancelled and the HP was the tool of choice .

Fair point.

LDTs - as a rule of thumb these are suitable for smaller (around 250cc) singles with low gearing, reasonable torque but, essentially, a good lock to be able to manoeuvre in tight sections. Also a good idea to pick a lightish model as you are likely to be picking it up out of the mud regularly if you ride like me!). If you are the competitive type, look at last year's results and see what bikes finished in the top 20.

Rallies - a different kettle of fish as Phil and others will tell you I am sure. Much depends on the individual event but, most importantly, the weather! I haven't been able to do any of the rallies so if any of you can advise whether they are suitable for bigger bikes then I am happy to add the information.

Cheers

Brian

Thanks Brian

Great thread :thumb2

I've ridden the Witley 100 LDT and the Swindonian LDT four or five times in the past Great events ...I think they would be doable on a 650 dakar or a bike of same size ...My mate does them on a Yamaha TTR 600 no problems ...like you say the Witley event can get a bit rutted and slippy would defo find it hard on a Boxer GS but the Swindonian would be doable on the larger bike :thumb2

Might have to dab a lot to pull the bike round the tighter sections but it would still be a great day out with lots of great laning :clap

I hope to do the Swindonian this year on the 950 SE and a couple of the rallies defo the Rydale see you there :clap

Holsworthy Motor Clubs Chairmans Trial - CANCELLED

Just seen this note from Martin - I have updated the LDT Directory accordingly.

Brian

The Chairman's trial has been cancelled for 2009, but will be back in 2010. I hope to see everyone on September 20th on the Roger Pole Taw & Torridge LDT. Martin
