Just doing a bit of work to seal the barrel bases on 93 1000. (slight weep, possibl from smaller o ring areas)
Ive ordered the small o rings AND oversize (2.2mm) larger O rings for the cylinder.
Any recommendations re what else I can use to make sure I get no leaks/weeps from the area.(Hylomar/Weldseal for instance)

Thx all.

Well I'm no Beemer expert . . but anywhere that involves a flange joint like that with oilways through it I'd probably use Loctite 518 meself. It's anaerobic and oil soluble - so any that gets squeezed out of the joint into an oilway firstly won't cure, and secondly will get harmlessly flushed away by the oil. Good stuff:thumb It's not cheap, mind . . . . alternatively I guess a tiny smear of anything will do the job if it's kept well away from the oilway. That said, mine is happily oil tight with just the 'O' rings and no sealant.

i use loctite 510 flange sealant myself.

it's what ducati spec for sealing some of their base gaskets and has never let me down.

Same principle, fairly similar stuff! I was recommended 518 by Loctite's technical line as being a good general purpose anaerobic for most motorcycle engine applications, but they do a whole range of them with slightly differing properties, several of which would probably be fine. As you say, if it works on a Duke it'll surely be fine on a Beemer.

I originally used it on my Norton crankcases and timing cover, but it's been great on a number of other metal-metal joints too. Anaerobics in general are a big leap forward IMHO compared to older style gasket gloops, although they still have their place too.
