Hi Everyone, It has just been pointed out to me by a friend, an observant one that there was oil leaking from the seal on the final drive of my 1200 GS, I dropped out to Joe Duffy and had the bad news confirmed but the chap whe did the confirming didnt see it as too urgent a repair and I was wondering if anyone has experianced anything simelar and what was the best plan of action, I commute 50 kms daily and my mechanic will only be back from hols on the 11th, so at least 400kms to be added till he returns, am I ok to wait or should this be taken care of immediatly?
Thanks, RR:nenau

It's a question of degree, isn't it? Slight misting or big dribble?

Misting, ride and keep an eye on it, Big drops and oily rear end not so good.

Some do many miles and don't do much more than mist, others get worse quickly. They are not difficult to repair.

Thanks Harry, so far it looks more like misting, will do as you say hopefully it will go slowly.

Which side on f,d left or right when sat on bike ,or big seal.or small
Both easy removed but fitting is alot easier with bmw seal tools :augie

Thanks Guys, had it repaired today at Joe Duffy in Dublin, didn't want to wait any longer so dropped in this morning and they took care of it right away at a nominal cost, just 66 euro, thanks again for the help.
