This looks like a very good solution for all XC owners who suffer from having the much lower watt alternator compared to other 650s like the F650 or XTZ

battery on the DRZ is flat. I'll try and charge it and get out tommorrow. Also may get a chance to do a tenere comparo later this week. Anyway for now i tool some comparison shots down the alley at the side of our unit.
For reference the red drainage pipe on the left of the alley is 30m away (100ft), the end of the railings on the right is 40m away (about 133ft) and the white blobs at the end are on the far bank of the beck , 50m away (about 166ft)
Its a good demonstration of the beam pattern on the wide 45/15 deg lamps. As they have a nice tight cut off on top and bottom they should make good fogs/always on lights.

You dont have to wear a twat suit or have a system lid or have Zumo,garmin sat nav,ride on tk's use Autocom, have big fu*k off aluminium panniers or even know what oil or plugs to use in my 1997 gs 1150 adventurer with pink comfort pillion seat............. Use your Brain cells if you have any (please can i go to the ace on sunday if its alright with Fanum,Paul or any other person who can make my mind up for me) I ride a GS cos A, I like it. B its comfortable.C there aint many bikes that can handle me, (over height,over weight and over 50) But I have got the intelligence to fit a 130/110 bulb to my headlamp without begging the permission of the ukgser's @ £10 a pop why would i want to spend shed loads on hid's,piaa's or shit like that..............Peter

Also the bulbs you have fitted are illegal, but I don't suppose anyone is going to shoot you down for that

I use to run a 130/110 in my 1150 and it was the nuts - However I could never get a diffinative on 'could the wiring and switches' take it so on the 1150 I opted for some £30 Halford spots and 50%+ bulbs in the main unit.

interesting point on wiring. i may perhaps, maybe, in a past life, have experimented with wiring the H4 bulbs in a pair of Yamaha TT600R's so that flicking to high beam lit both filaments........
It worked brilliantly for about 15,000 miles until an unfortunate incident in a mile long unlit tunnel in Bosnia.
My riding partner was leading and all of a sudden his light went out and he crashed into the side of the tunnel.

The following couple of minutes as we tried to recover his bike and start it without getting run down was right up there with the scariest moments of my life

basically the wiring in the back of the headlight had melted and shorted. I've been a lot more careful with my loads after that.
Dont get me wrong im up for taking a risk and experimenting as much as the next man, but i dont want to go through that again so have been a little more careful. I only ride singles myself but i have always had an auxiliary on my travel bikes since then. Its in the name, 'auxiliary'. I even run two brake/rear lights now, just little LED ones, but they help on something with very limited lighting capability as standard.

We are marketing these lights mainly as a solution for bikes with limited electrical output, or for riders who are interested in something they can use on their mountain bikes as well, getting really high performance for a good price (in that industry). They will also make goood aux lights for big trailies. The multilple mounting options and quick swap connectors mean a rider with all of the above can get multiple uses out of the one unit, genuinely without a massive faff everytime they want to swap. Its an option!

I've already looked at hooking this light up to my mountain bike battery - Is there a handle bar mount I could use to swap the unit from the XC to the MTB as required?

My intial impressions are this light will as you say be perfect for a trail bike that does not kick out two much power and if other mounts where avalible could be switched between bikes with ease - In fact I might just prep the Airhead so it can use this unit if required

If you've got a suitable battery (we do have them if not) you could even use it as a lid light, with the Trail Tech staying on the airhead. Or you could run it from the bikes battery if you make up a cable. I need to get some of the connectors so we can offer these options.
A note on batteries and powering these up. The electronics inside allow them to run off any DC source from 9-32volts, they're designed for use in multiple applications so are pretty flexible and forgiving.

a few more pictures. these are comparison shots with the headlight on a 2008 Tenere, which has pretty usable lighting as standard. im not particularly skilled with a camera, so the aperture etc auto adjusts, you can see the halogen standard lamp as far more yellow when photograpged alongside the Solstice'.
