Thanks Mart, pics appreciated as I fancy replacing my allegedly super reliable expensive Hid50 setup in the future for something else (had one burner fail previously). Surely more modern LED technology should be more reliable ??

Things i noted,
I should have trimmed the boxes, not the plastic inner trim.
The mainbeam adjustor had gone walkabout prior to me fitting the boxes, it will need replacing at some point
The patch loom is so long, its wrapped wound the back of the Kombi. i will when i get time shorten it
If you want to see it in the flesh, i'm only down the road, happy to pop down if you want a first hand look.
(you may need to give the bike a jump start though

Ok now i'm confused to which way the lamp should be facing ??????? i've gone with Up Down like some of the others i've seen but you've gone side to side ??? No idea which is right

Find a dark road, turn on light, take picture ..
Remove light, rotate bezel, refit turn on light. take picture
see what give the best pattern / beam
Mark garage door or wall with beam height matrix, see what rotation gets closest to correct beam setting .
i oly fitted them that way, as they came that way

So tonight I've bolted on the cheap ass Chinkanese made 18w spot lamps (Need to fit the proper water proof plugs so only temp wiring) but only just finished so had a little ride up and down the road to see what's what so to speak ! The LED H7 lamps are nice and white but no where near as good as my old HID's. I've gone up and down but might try the main on the side to side as looks like it would give more reflection form the lamp ? high beam looks like it's filling the reflector ok. The Spots seem brilliant but again it was more a case of getting them bolted up and need to fiddle with adjustment and tidy wires up. I'll chuck so pick's up in a bit

The spots look like they add some nice lowdown infill
I'm going to try and get my lamps set over the weekend so i can see what the spreads are

found a couple of posts on the tinterweb that would all suggest you are correct with the side to side action of your lamps so i'll adjust mine when i next get a moment. I'll bung some more pic's up when i get mine set up properly as well

The (so called) Phillips LED bulbs I fitted are brighter than the HID 50s I had previously.
Cheap as chips LEDs (as with cheap HID) make too much high frequency blue light. So the lumens count is high but human eyes can't see the benefit. Better quality emitters give a more useful spectrum.
My LED spots are not needed with dip beam but the narrow pencil beam is great as a long distance main beam.
They make up for the standard main beam being angled too low when dip is set correctly.
Floods like the 6 element square lens lights are for close range. I had some round lamps with four elements but the light cone was dazzling unless they were set at a drunken down angle. They fell apart after a few weeks. No loss TBH.

Ok, thought I'd add an update to this thread.
I had a delivery today, and first up was these bits
So suitably armed, i whipped the headlamp assy. off the bike
And without fail, Delores unveiled some more of her hidden history ..
So let me guess, its been down the road at some stage !!
Anyway onto the next problem
yup no where near, however using my trusty skewer ...
All was sorted.
Refitted the light unit to the bike, waited until it got dark, and
OK, way to low and to the right.

Had a quick play with the settings
Low beam 2, needs to go up and left a bit
High beam
Still low and right
Last attempt
Low beam is still low, ok, i can bring that up no doubt,
My only concern is the LH kick up, it should be the the same distance on the Left of the door as is currently shown on the right.

Set the headlight with in a pair of H7 halogens. Then you'll know what the light is expected to do before you fit the LEDs.
Ive always considered my headlight has a flat line dip but I could be mistaken.

But without the aux headlights you may well crash if its dark going to work. The light difference is shocking.
I go to work in the daylight, and return in daylight.

Had another look tonight, somthings not right. I,m going to strip it at the weekend and fix the height adjuster i broke, then i,ll set the beam using h7's. And ill wire them to my car battery (spare) to save siting there with the engine running , i think the leads i tucked into the housing are stopping the side to side adjustment

I adjusted my bulbs down as far as the adjuster allowed but beam was still slightly too high so I resorted to insulation tape on the headlight protector.
So far not been flashed.
Tried main beam last night, but makes no difference to distant illumination at all.

Mine is the same. The bottom mount grommet has worn loose so I put two or three layers of heat shrink sleeve around the peg. Next job is to do it again with more packing at the front so it slightly lowers the lamp.
