Has anyone tried swapping out the halogens on their sport SE R1200RS bike's main headlight for LED bulbs? I'm finding the standard halogens pretty poor on my RS.

I bought a set of these and fitted them to my 2009 GSA:

They've been on the bike for about a year and are much better than the standard bulbs it came with, so can recommend them. I think they required a small mod, so had them fitted when it needed a service.

Either way, LEDs seem the way to go these days.

A lot depends on the quality of the LED bulb, some are rubbish and poor quality, some are very good to be fair. A DOT report which tested various offerings of standard, xenon & LED bulbs concluded that;
Xenons although they outperform most options all create dazzle and poor beam pattern due to being unsuitable for a non xenon housing.

Standard high quality bulbs will outperform most cheap LED's and moreso if you upgrade to a high quality bulb such as Phillips Racing Vision or Osram Night Breaker, offer a correct beam pattern and don't dazzle.

High quality LED's such as the Phillips Ultinon or Osram HL Intense will provide more light and a brighter whiter light offer a correct beam pattern and don't dazzle.
