LED Fog lights 2014

Hi Terry - I don't know (they may well have done as they said they were asking for advice) but they could ring the dealership and ask for Tony.

Can't believe your patience guys.

I'd have given up by now and rewired the damned things myself, having insisted that relevant part of the loom from canbus computer thing to lights was replaced first.

How hard can it be?

Check out Zen Overland, I bought a set from them down at the Horizons unlimited meet in Donnington earlier this year, I asked Touring ted to remove the stock MB lights and fit the LED's, wired straight into the Canbus system, they use the on/off switch on the left handlebar and are so powerfull cars get out of the way quick. Brilliant piece of kit, highly recommended.

Fingers crossed. I wonder if they have the same problem on the factory fit ones for the GSA?

The problem isn't the lights it's the wiring or the connecters,

Terry

My left hand one failed on my trip to Austria

It now flickers on start up but did not work at all for 3 days. Popped into Stuttgart bmw as my mates ABS sensor failed and they put a new left hand LED unit on but it was no different.

So the wiring it is  that's going to be a fidly fix but will get NOG to sort it out.

It's surely getting frustrating for you guys with this merry go round,
The connectors may be water logged but moisture would be present , was there any???
both lights are likely to be on a single supply and earth with a joint to split it to 2 lights supplied by a relay to a pair of fuses and on to the lights, as per the previous gs/ GSA, there wil be no diagnostic fault logged as it is a final stage with continuity through 1 light
It's amazing that they haven't volt dropped the wiring as it's a conclusive test done with a multimeter,
I am looking at fitting the lights so quite concerned at your problems which as professionals they should be finding ,,

We don't seem to have a proper fix yet (save for a blob of silicone (lord save me)).

I'm not going back for a fourth time until there's a better plan - it's takes a day, costs £20 each time and the guys are a laugh but I've got other things to do.
It's a fantastic bike but I've reached my limit.

With you on that one, I thought this was not a big problem but it seems it is, and yes it is a pain in the ass keep going back.
I've just seen that Blues and twos has now got the same problem, I was talking to him the other day on a NOG ride out about this issue. Hopefully get a fix soon rather than silicone

Oh no Jon NOG will be scratching their heads now, I've had two new lights and it's been in 4 times so far. I've heard elsewhere it may be a wiring loom problem. What a nightmare.

Wish I was a fly on the wall when you call Matt, or have you called him already. What did he say?

Just waiting for a call back. Did they try and fix yours while you waited Terry?

Jon :beerjug:

Just spoke to Matt who is expecting a reply from BMW this week regarding the puma report.

No point me booking it in yet until a proper fix sorted :beerjug:

Hi Jon
Yes 3 times while I waited and once it went in for a day, I had a loan bike that time. Let's see how they get on with yours. Mine are ok at the moment but it's not been washed for a while, due to the dry weather.
I still think it is a wiring issue as all have failed on the L/H light.

Terry

I've washed my bike 3 times since the silicone has been applied and my spots still work, the last time wash a good soaking with snow foam and pressure wash, so let's see what happens in the next couple of days.
