A little while ago I posted about creating LED indicators for the 1150. Nippynorman does a pair for £50 quid but there is one flaw:
They are crap.
The reason for this is cost; they use only 20 LED's per indicator and have spread them too far apart so that the LED's are ineffective.
From studying the back of a Scania bus
at the way it's done there, I decided to modify my original design. I had intended to do a large strip spanning the width of the indicator. This took over 30 LED's and was very bright, but it left the upper and lower segments a little dim and was a pain to fit.
My next idea reduced the LED count to 27 and patterned it in the shape of the chromed LED insert part. This resulted in a more complete light pattern and is much easier to mount.
Indeed this design works so well I've decided to mount two additional indicators below the front originals. I'm replacing the LED's with 12000mcd white units with clear fronts and wiring to the sidelamp (which will be dewired).
If anybody has a spare indicator (I need the black part and chrome part but not the front) can you please get in touch so I can complete this project. I'll give full details on how to do the process yourself.
Indicator cost (for four) is around £20.
Front white LED units cost is around £7
