Hi,

I've a '04gsa and was interested in changing the filament indicator bulbs for LED as it is one less thing to blow at an inconvenient time.

Can anyone tell me in the 1150gsa requires a resistor kit in order to get them to work properly.

Cheers.

I changed the rears for LEDs and now they all flash like their on speed. So I'm guessing a resistor kit will be required if you change all of them...

In around 40 years of motoring, the number of blown indicator bulbs I've experienced can be counted on the fingers of one <strike>hand</strike> finger!

If you're fitting LEDs, consider:

  • their reliability (particularly aftermarket products)
  • building in unreliability through messing with the wiring/adding ballasts etc
  • brightness
  • viewing angle
  • cost

I can beat gregs record.. I've not had an indicator bulb pop on any bike I've owned since 1980. In fact the only bulb I've ever had 'go' on a GS since 1997 was in the clocks.

I've only ever had one (proper) bulb fail: a headlamp on a brand new (2 week old) Triumph trident 750 in 1995

If an indicator bulb were to 'pop' then I would swap it with the front LHS one.. which if you think about it is the one indicator you can survive without temporarily.

What's all this talk of indicators?:nenau I thought BMW drivers/ riders don't use the indicators.:D

Thanks for the advice chaps. On balance I'll stick with what I've got in that case and save myself a few quid.
