LED lamps aux Lights BMW or others.

Hi,
I did try searching for info first... but no joy,,

Of those with the BMW aux driving LED lamps... whats your thoughts on effectiveness please,,

plus Has anyone had them retro fitted? or do you recommend any other type instead,, thanks :thumb2
 
I have them. They were a present from BMW UK.:D In the day, they obviously give more presence, but at night, there is a good spread of light. Before I had these, I wouldn't have bothered with them on this bike, as it has the LED headlight, but they really are a worthwhile addition.:beerjug:
 
I fancy some lights too, saw the touratech brackets at excell, looked impressive.. Although I asked if they would turn on the lights & they were dummies, I actually think they must have been 'not so good'

There are lots of E-Buy LED cycle lamps at about £15.00, probably need a ballast resistor to make tem suitable for 12V. Many include clamps suitable for fixing to crash bars etc. They are waterproof and only need a bit of imagination to fit them.
Or you can spend £100s on the motorcycle alternative.
Personally I feel adding the motorcycle tag onto cycle gives the developers a massive mark up.

Thanks for all comments and info.. look into both options.. I found some automatic LED driving lamps which look a good option.. I just need to find a decent mounting option... Anyone recommend one.. and where to hide/place the cabling...

as opposed to £400 plus to fit BMW ones?? but the BMW ones look much much nicer and have switch built in well..
 
Daytime running lights are not aux lights. What exactly do you want? A 3w led will give you about as much light as a bright match. Do you want to be seen during the day or see in the dark?
If it is the latter then try these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141179295112 I have both the 1600lm and 3000lm. Have a search for the same lights different sellers and you might get a better price but this seller has a great description and pictures of what your buying.
 
A question please.

Can anyone recommend a decent set of fog pattern lights with halo rings?

I've considered regular Fogs and adding a pair of the rings available separately on ebay, but they're just a row of LEDs on a PCB and packaging them without the finished thing looking like a massive bodge would be difficult.

I've seen plenty of lights marked as Fog/Spot that have a halo ring, but seeing "Fog/Spot" in a description has me moving on immediately as it suggests that the seller hasn't a clue what he's selling. Clearly one light can't have both Fog and Spot beam patterns. I'm also wary of lights that have LEDs behind a clear cover and no focussing lens as I do not see how they can provide a broad flat Fog beam.

I've seen plenty of Spot lights with Halo rings and Driving lamps with Halo rings but so far no Fogs with them. Anyone care to make a suggestion?

Can you run the BMW aux lights with the DRL or dipped headlight? The manual seems to say they will only come on with main beam. Was thinking of getting the BMW aux lights to increase daytime presence as I don't think the DRL sideways U is very noticeable but read that in the manual.
