I've just bought a 2005 1200GS - my first. The number plate illumination part of the light is not working. It strobes a bit sometimes but mostly it just doesn't work. The tail/brake light part work fine.

Any ideas what might be wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks

An '05 bike with an LED rear light?

Whose? Nippy's?

It'll be a bad connection - take it to buts and look for corrosion and/or damage

A pic of the LED bit would help.....

I had one of them with the same problem, mine was just loose wire at the back, check it over and see if any of the solder on the board has poped, after that could be a new one :(

I've taken the thing

apart and can't find any obvious bits of solder missing. The wiring to the unit is a liitle corroded around the connectors but as the brake/tailight work I'm assuming this isn't a problem although I will clean it up.

May just revert back to OE unit. Don't know where this one came from. Looks good enough quality tho with plenty of 'white' LEDs for the numberplate light.

Thanks for your help.
