Well I just about got the gist of that, was it a french bike or belgian bike?

You should be able to get some info with frame number.

If you need me to read any french stuff I am happy to do so.

HTH

et à bientôt

Sorry Folks It's a bike I bought In Dublin the problem is it was abandonned for 7 or more years and If I don't get papers

Her Maj'es Muppets will assign it a Q plate, And I'd rather not have that

AS it is the poor Lady needs a driveshaft and the engine is in complete Schiesse! Hence me getting another engine :D

So the purpose of the thread despite my "Francais Du Chantier" i.e. workplace french is to see if some one can point me in the correct direction of finding the original Registration docs?

Could you not buy a frame from Motorworks etc that has the docs so you can get it registered for the correct age?

Another thought, the AJS club had someone who could research the info and get a bike registered correctly for the year. Might the BM club, or even BM itself provide the answers?

Might be able to find out some info for you. No promises.

Richie

P.S. if you did not know I sprakensy Frog parafaitment. Et ma femme est francophone...

What model is it? - I have a couple of frames and UK reg docs

...it will probably cost you more to obtain the French papers, (if they let you have them - which I doubt and maybe only with a personal visit with the Bike to the French Inspector of Mines or some similar body), than buying a s/h frame and UK reg docs

I agree with BillN...buy a frame/V5c and shift it all over....LOT less hassle and perfectly legit :thumb2

Plus it is then a complete build frame upwards :bounce1...should be ready by September for a run out and some piccies for us ;)

A January 88 R100GS paralever

Seems crazy the price of a documented frame out there in the marketplace   ????

If your bike is French registered (76) this is Normandy....try this link to the Prefecture and ask (e-mail) for a duplicate Carte Grise (registration document)

http://www.haute-normandie.pref.gou...7/N18728&spl_l=63&page=sommaire&id_article=50

Guide des droits et des démarches administratives dans le département SEINE-MARITIME (76) : Duplicata du certificat d'immatriculation (ex-carte grise) en cas de perte, vol ou détérioration

Hope this helps ?

Good idea... BTW my mate has already got back to me. He can only get info on numbers from clients who have moved onto Belgian plates from previous french ones. Sorry.. He was quick to reply though 2 minutes....

He does not own the Bike in the eyes of the French, does he?
I very much doubt if they will give him one

If he knows the original owner then there is no problem...he can say that he wants to become the new owner and go through the transfer procedure.

If he does not know the owner .... then he has the bike details and could ask the prefecture to assist him in this respect.

You may be right..... they may not help him ....but why not try ?

Thanks Piaf I ave sent a beeging leeter in my Exquisite Franch for ze advises

If you know the registration no. and it tallies with the VIN etc. they should supply a duplicate Carte Gris for a fee.

Hello I'm French

So the situation here : is the bike declared stolen ?
Too much tickets ? Speed gun etc
Those 2 facts doesn't allow you to make bike documents in France
You can check that with internet and the registration (and the link is)
https://siv.interieur.gouv.fr/map-usg-ui/do/csa_retour_dem_certificat
But you need name and surname of the owner...
The date of first registration...
For that, I think you need a french cop help

If not, depends of the year of the bike. Only with the registation plate and a sell document (you can download it to), you can make a "vintage registration"

But I'm not sur this is not less expensive and easier than to buy a frame with documents.

If it was a 90S or a 77RS OK... or a 80 or 81 G/S

Ask more about bike year etc

If you've got the last name and surname of the owner, you can use white pages and ask him for a copy of "carte grise" explaining him that bike parking cost a lot :augie
