Lesson learnt: things NOT to do/take on trips.*

I do allow myself a little luxury when touring. Some take a book, flip flops or even their girlfriend. I can often be found on the side of the road nibbling, like a March Hare, through a packet of tuc biscuits. :D

I fortunately have a wife who backpacked extensively in her youth, so has learnt the joys of travelling (very) light. Hence our two inner pannier bags are around 5 kg each, with a pair of sandals/flipflops, Scott Ergos and and the tyre pump in the tailpack. I won’t use the RT topbox because it weighs a ton empty.

Sounds good, but we still unpack at the end of a trip and find clothes we’ve not used, and each year vow to make a list of the stuff we did use and pack that alone… it’s not happened yet.
