Lest we Forget

So the German people have totally changed their ideology and culture ? It takes hundreds of years for that to happen .
Reflect for just a moment on what you’ve just posited, and it should be clear how utterly idiotic it is. Perhaps you didn’t actually take note of what Hitler did.

You love the sound of your own voice far too much. I can’t argue with someone as bigoted as you.

It’s funny isn’t it how a few on here just like to argue without putting any meaningful post up , and very quickly resort to insults as they want to join in ,but have nothing constructive to add.

It’s funny how you can’t accept that Germany would be a very different country today had they won the war - I think I made a very valid comment on your fatuous post and you chose to pretend otherwise by claiming their culture would take centuries to change. Ignoring the facts as to how Germany changed under Hitler. I didn’t insult you; you are bigoted, not to mention self serving and intolerant.

You don’t know that Germany would have been a different country today if they had won the war .

Did the German people s way of life really change under hitler ? Or was it British and American propaganda that’s swayed your thinking ?

So, the Nazis weren’t all they were vilified to be? It was all British and American propaganda was it? You sound very much like a holocaust denier.........so don’t expect any further replies from me. I’ll leave you to stew in your own cesspit.

. Self serving and a bigot ? Me or you ?

I choose to visit the memorial to pay my respects to the people and comrades that I’ve known and worked with who paid the price.
And also to those that gave of their lives so that you and I can enjoy the lives we currently have.

Having “done” two conflict zones, I feel I have the right to show the world what other people’s sacrifices mean to me by putting up the occasional photograph.
They may also prompt others to think on what others have given for their freedoms.

I defy anyone with an ounce of humanity in them not to be moved by the written feelings of the families of those remembered in such memorials. My tears flow freely when I see those words, because I feel their loss – it is mine also.

To those that vent their ire on this thread - please take it elsewhere. You dishonour those that cannot shout back.

Well said.

I've also visited the Memorial, like you said it's a nice place to stop and reflect, to remember those lost, think about those who have been killed fighting for what I believe is worth fighting for, and also to consider the futility and utter sadness of those who had their lives ended before they should. In an ideal world it would be unnecessary to bear arms against people, but in the real world it's different.

A quiet moment to do this is difficult to understand by some and the comments made on this thread are not worthy of reply.

Some of us are campaigning so we don’t have remembrance services for the soldiers died in 2018 , 19, 20 , 21 etc . The only way to do that is move on and use our time to stop war and it’s ridiculous ideology , and not glorify It with pointless ceremonies that are organised by the war mongers ie the government

WHen you say campaigning, do you do anything more than piss on people's remembrance threads on the internet, or is that the extent of how much you do to stop war etc. etc.?

Yes , hopefully make people stop and think about the future and not so much the past .

And how do you do that? What do you do to campaign, other than piss on people's remembrance threads in the internet, I mean.

Why’s it pissing on the thread when my sole intention is to do a little towards a day when we don’t have remembrance ceremonies ?

Jetjock it’s remembering the past that hopefully makes us think about the future. I remember my dad saying he watched his uncle Alec marching off to take the train from Waverley station, his uncle Alec never came back it’s those memories handed down that I want to remember and make my little thank you to those boys.

OK, so I take it from that, that you don't do any actual campaigning (as claimed in post 113) and that the entirety of what you claim to be campaigning is pissing on a thread made by some chap who went to visit memorials to those who died in war. Obviously you arent the only one who pissed on this thread, but that is exactly what you did and to call it campaigning is stretching the definition of "being a ****" probably a little further than even the cuntiest **** has done on here.

If you want to campaign to prevent war, go sign up to the PPU, go sell white poppies, go talk to kids in schools about how the world would be a better place if there were no more dead. You will never ever win anyone over to your way of thinking by pissing off the man or woman on the street whilst they are carrying out a solemn act of remembrance. The people being remembered are the kids who were sent to war - to their deaths - by politicians. Turning any act of remembrance of those people into a pissing contest will not gain any ground for your campaign...even if it were one.

But I don’t think it does make people think of the future . Instead of a Remembrance Day let’s have a day to make sure we don’t have a Remembrance Day !!
In other words campaign against these ridiculous wars
