Thinking of a change from my full fat Levo carbon comp to a Levo SL or Kenvo SL, has anyone changed and what are your thoughts? Thanks

Why are you considering changing? I have a Merida with an E160 85nm motor and 500wh battery.
I can't see the benefits of changing as there's not much saving in weight.

It’s not really a change as I will probably keep the carbon comp which is an XL and can be a handful off road, just want something a bit lighter and smaller I.e a large instead of a XL for off road

I only ride my Merida off road and once moving I don't notice the weight, I actually think it helps in keeping it planted and gripping.
In comparison to my CRF300 Rally which I also use off road the Emtb feels light. The only time I notice the weight is loading it in and out of the car. If you're having to lift it over gates and drystone walls then I can see the advantage of a lighter bike.
Last year I had a demo ride on a Trek Fuel EXE. As good as it is I couldn't see what I would gain by changing to an SL bike.

I have a full fat Levo, a first generation Kenevo SL and a second generation Levo SL. In my case, riding with mainly non ebike mates, the full fat Levo was only ever used in low settings, and the appeal of a much lighter e-bike was strong. I mainly ride the Levo SL now, as that is the e-bike I wanted all along.
You are welcome to come and try the SL's Howard, if it helps to make up your mind.

Thanks Mark,

I mainly ride with a super fit non ebike mate as well, I can’t say I’m only in low power on the Levo, but mainly eco and trail mode, my Levo is an XL and sometimes feels too big and heavy on the technical stuff …. I probably should have got a large, thanks for the offer and I’ll get back to you, I have been offered a 2023 kenovo carbon SL at a good price with only 150km showing so thinking about it 😊

After trying the Levo SL I’ve decided it’s not for me. Because of my recent health issues I just don’t have the fitness anymore.
Going to have a look for a 2023 full fat Levo in s4/large

Ooh, that’s very nice. :thumb2
One hell of a length on that seat stem though? Is it the right frame size for you? Looks to be a tad on the small size if that’s the normal seat height. :nenau

Oh, and mind your oven door! :D

It’s a S4 which is a large, that’s the dropper post which is adjusted to my height, if you look the actual seat post is only just out of the top post. Point taken on the oven door…..I’ve moved it into the lounge! (Don’t think she’s noticed yet 🤔😂)

The dropped frame of the Levo exaggerates the look of the seatpost. As said above with the dropped post down it will feel like a BMX. Fine looking bike , enjoy.

Frame v seat extention looks fine....here's a pro cyclists bike set up

Got a great deal on this from the specialized concept store in Chester, it’s a very dark moss green that looks black in certain light, but being a Matt finish I’ve invisiframed it before even riding…a fiddly time consuming job, but there is no way I’m paying a bike shop £150 to do it !!

Good lads at the Chester store. Helped me find the right saddle using a seat bone pad thingy. Top prices in there though.

Have become really attached to the red carbon comp which I’ve had for around 4 years and don’t think I can bring myself to sell it 🙄

Howard J: really helpful report, thanks, as I have been looking very hard at a 2023 Specialized Turbo Levo in that colour or in lime green, seem to be available new at £3,500-£4,000 these days. I ride a Whyte regular MTB with 2 mates who I fear won't move to an eMTB...however I like the idea as I can access trails that are closed to my KTM 350 exc f.

Still pondering.... (how is it to load in the back of an estate car, weight wise? And how do you find the limited display (or do you use your phone?)

Hi Simon

I carry it/them on a tow bar bike rack…so just lift on, I imagine the front wheel would need removing to go in the back of an estate car….weight wise 20kg plus so not the lightest thing to lift 🙈
The newer levo’s have the mastermind TCU (This is a must!) display which shows speed, distance, battery % remaining and what mode you are in and you can also scroll through to other information and settings, also will download to strava via the specialized app. I do also have a Garmin Edge 530 as I just prefer it and swap between bikes. They are fantastic and I ride mine most weekends either a gentle jaunt on the local cycleway or further afield and off road 😀👍🏻
