Got a System 5 at the mo which i'm not too happy with. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes it fogs up something chronic.

Went to sort some new gloves out today and tried on a Tour X at the same time. Quite simply it is the best fitting lid i've put on my child size noggin.
The shell size is small and it's light.

I need to buy another lid for the missus and as we're the same size i thought i could get a tour X and she could wear whatever she prefers when she's on't back (which won't really be that often or for that long) then I really have two lids.

I've also been looking at the C2 but wonder about the fit and the fact that it's very similar to the system 5.

What are the tour-x's like to fit an autocom to and what are they like in terms of windnoise and listening to music/comunicating via the autocom?

This might sound harsh but i only want info from people who actually have or have had one and not 3rd hand via someones mate in the pub as i will be shelling out £300 on the advice. That said all genuine info and advice will be much appreciated :thumb

I use a autocom on a tour x only issue i have is the cable and plug which dangles down from the lid, fitted a autocom plastic bracket to the side of the lid for when its not in use and the sound it makes when ya turn your noggin is like a quiet bike horn . :eek

I was talking to someone in a bus queue who knows a bloke :mmmm

I've got one but haven't fitted my Autocom into it yet , i'm happy with it but it can get noisey at high speeds and uncomfortable in gusting winds when the peak is on . The vents work on warm days but the dark visor is a problem on dull rainey days :thumb

I have a tourX with autocomm fitted, there are recesses next to your ears where the speak fit and the cheek pads can be easily removed to fit the mike and the rest of the gubbins, altogether a pretty easy job. It can be noisy at speed and listening to voice or music above 70ish can be a bit difficult.

Hope this helps

The new BMW Enduro lid is out v.soon & at £255 is cheaper than the tour x & I think is a nicer design.

has a tour x. check.
fitted autocom. check.

my 2 cents;
speakers - a doddle / comfy / wiring neat and tidy.

boom mic - a p.i.t.a.! maybe the shape of my robust cheeks and chin  but i suffer 'hamster cheeks' from the boom sticking into my cheek. i've trimmed as much as i dare off the pad - but its still uncomfortable.

as for the droopy lead and plug - i found if you attach a cable tie to it and stuff the end up into the lids lining, its just enough to hold it close to the lid and does no harm. looks odd when in use though / but causes no problems.

Thanks for the info folks :thumb
I think i'll give one a go. One thing i like about the arai is that they do different shell sizes. I presume the BM lid will be one size for all as with their others and coz of my kids head i end up with a huge unwieldy lid :(

Have a Tour X - check
Have a System 5 - check

Tour - X - incredibly noisy and unstable. Looks V cool especially with tinted wisor.
System 5 - incredibly quiet and stable. Looks a bit boring.

Would I buy a Tour X again - no way.

At least with my bike (Dakar) and set up (have tried 3 different windscreens but to no avail, including a huge Wunderlich one I can barely see over)

My 2 cents!
