how long before a 1150 gs single spark coils and ht leads start to play up?

Think it was only the twin sparks that had problems.

My early 1150 failed around 70k, bike wouldn't rev out.

Mine is fine after over 15 years and 120,000 miles.

Was the fire started by the coil and HT lead breaking down?

My single spark did 98,000 without a hitch, then I got offered a good price for it and it is still going strong. Took the new owner to the Elephant Rally last February. He still raves about it when I see him. He reckons it is the best bike he has ever had and he has been biking for 40 odd years. He has had some HDs though, so I am not sure his opinion counts!

46k miles on R1150GS'01 before both HT leads needed replacement.
