My nice new 1200 has standard lights. :nenau For the moment. :mmmm Lots of roos down under. My old 1150 had 4 HID lights so the 1200 has a bit of catching up to do. But does anyone make a light bar that will fit with the auxiliary tanks? I usually make my own but this thing cost so much I don't want home made farkles hanging off it :nono

Do you think my light bar will be in the way?

Can you post pics of the tanks you have in mind?

Cheers,
Michel

Migsel, do you have a photo of your bar fitted, from under the beak? I should be able to tell if the bar will fit with the Touratech tanks. I've tried to post photos before but they fell off over the Pacific somewhere :nenau

Here's a few:

but that's all I'm afraid.

G'day Burra, I have MIGSel's lightbar fitted to my 1200GS and I'm very happy with it, (Thanks MIGSel).
As I can't attach photos to messages on this forum, I've started a new thread on ADVrider with a couple of pictures for you.

As an aside, I know why I can't post attachments here and I'm not complaining but it might go a little way to explaining why ADVrider seems to be more popular with Australian users.

G'day Footloose.

Are those the Tourtech tanks on your 1200? I thought I had the first set in Oz :) Can I pm you about them?

Cheers

What you can see is the standard BMW fuel tank and panels, I don't have any auxiliary fuel tanks on my bike.
You are quite welcome to PM me at any time for anything.

Sorry, Burra Boy, but my 1200 has the "honour" of being the very first to be fitted with the TT fuel pods - basically as the "official tester". Have now done about 12000km with them on. And there are some others around, too.

Hi Margaret

Thanks for putting me in my place :D

A few questions, if that's OK? Have you painted your tanks and if so, was it successful? and secondly, in what order are you running your tanks ie do you wait for the reserve light to come on before turning the aux tanks on or do you leave them turned on all the time? What range do you now have and can you empty the tanks completely? Sorry about the barrage of questions but I'm a newbie to these tanks

I tried but the machine refused to let me talk to you direct...:spitfire

Thanks for the order Burra boy!

Please post some pics when the bar is fitted.

Cheers,
Michel

Burra,
It looks like you have to be a subscriber to use Private Messaging, unlike ADVRider.
I'm sending this message to you by clicking on the envelope icon at the bottom of your message, if you have enabled email from other members, it will get to you.
I notice from MIGSels last post, that you have ordered the lightbar from him. Even though they are expensive, something like $225, it's not a bad choice from all of the others out there

Brian.

Whoops, that was a cockup, I thought that this was a private email. Not to worry, I don't think I've insulted anybody. : )

something like $225
 Is that Australian dollars you are talking about?

The price in real money is 122 euros :)
... or something like 160 US dollars

I have had to raise the price 3 euros recently, because of the crazy increases in the stainless steel material price.

Cheers,
Michel

But will I get it before Xmas? I have a nice long ride planned for the New Year. One that doesn't involve tar roads, for some reason. Gee, I wonder why? I must be allergic to caravans and coppers....

Real money? This is the rate as of today, as you can see, there's quite a difference between the Euro and the Australian dollar.
I can't find the original receipt but I seem to remember that I paid A$185, so some of the difference would be from your price rise and and a change in the currency rate. I did blanch a little at the price initially but after taking a good like around at what was on offer for lightbars, I still chose yours as the better idea.
I'm part way through mounting a HID ballast on an auluminium plate to the lightbar so the mounting holes are coming in useful. There's plenty of room on the bar and set as it is up high, it makes it pretty easy.
Live mid-market rates as of 2006.12.16 22:52:45 UTC.
122.00 EUR=204.466 AUD

1 EUR = 1.67595 AUD 1 AUD = 0.596675 EUR

Regards, Brian.

PS This is a real Euro!

Yes, that's what the holes are for.
Either for that or for mounting extra horns like a Stebel or so.

Can you send me a few pics when you're done with that please?

Cheers,
Michel

I'll be happy to when I can bring myself to put the bike off the road long enough to finish the job. I do like to have it sitting there ready for me to zoom off on, marvelous stress reliever! : )

Brian.

I've got a pair of Narva 175 Ultima's that will get 50watt HID inserts as soon as my Migsel bar arrives. I'll probably hide the ballasts under the beak - I've already fitted a HID light to the low beam and I haven't ridden the new bike at night yet - is that a record?:mmmm I'm gonna fry a few roos come winter!!:D
