I would like a new lighting Kit on my 12 GS. I'm reluctant to undertake the wiring myself incase I make a hash of things, so I was wondering if there was anyone in the North east you could recomend to do the job.

I`ve just fitted 2 pairs of PIAA 002 lights to my bike, one pair switched to the dipped beam & the other pair come on with main beam. It took me about a week to do but that was just pottering about an hour or so per night plus a couple off due to work. I`m no electrical specialist but with the help of this forum I did it
It`s worth a go if you`re in no hurry & there loads of people on here who`ll help

if i were to get lights fitted i would contact BTBR on this web.http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88095 looking at the pictures of his work it seems spot on and for a day trip to the midlands it seems worth it. As there are plenty of cowboys out there and its a nice ride out. can even call at sherburn in elmet on the way back for a mug of tea


you could always do what i do ride in the day as i cant see through my black visor once it is dark but if you do find someone who is half competant let me know

Cheers for the replys. I have thought about doing it myself but the wiring freaks me out if I'm to be honest, the bracketing etc is not to much of a problem. On modern bikes there are so many wires doing jobs I didnt even know needed doing. So the prospect of splicing into one dosn't fill me with Glee. But I will have a look at the website.

I can only speak from my experience with the PIAA wiring loom but the only splicing you need to do is the power wire in the back of the lights with the supplied crimp thingy. The thing that took me the most time was cutting & soldering the wires to make them shorter as the kit is designed for a car.

I positioned my relays in the same place as BTBR has his ( Cheers BTBR ) Just take your time & it`ll go great

Do a proper job, splice the cable and solder to it, then cover the joint with self almagamating tape, "Bodgelocks" suck.......

The difference between you & me is that you`ve loads of experience doing this type of stuff & exchange cash for it for doing other peoples & I`m a rank amateur doing it on my own bike with help from this forum & taking over a week to do it. anyway said "bodgelock" works fine for me
I rather enjoyed doing it myself

If you are still looking to add some extra lights, attached is a couple of pics of mine. Easy to fit (2 hours), no soldering, splicing or anything, all spare cable fits under seat, comes with an on/off switch. They are very bright, I have them on dip only - for high vis in daylight and the beam set just slightly over the dip, not enough to blind oncoming traffic, brilliant lighting at night. Y

Cost $149 for the Migel light bar and $244 for the PIAA 510 driving lamps plus $52 P&P. At todays exchange much cheaper than UK. If you are interested send me a pm
