My new Shoei Hornet DS is 1430g and after 5 days continuous serious offroad use is starting to give me grief at the top of the back of my neck.

Does anyone know of a helmet of the same category that is significantly lighter? It must have a visor and peak and not be a goggles-only job.

Airoh S4??

I suspect the lightest is the Uvex Carbon Enduro Helmet or the similar BMW one - if you can find either of those.

BMW Enduro helmet - 1200g IIRC

Bit obvious but.........Arai Tour X ?

Probably not obvious as the Tour x is heavier than the DS ( 1550g) so if the latter is too heavy at 1430g...........

I've had both and the DS felt much lighter and more comfy

Ah not so obvious.......you should try the Xlite with integral sun visor, it's fantastic

Is that the 551? Any idea of it's weight? Their spec sheet doesn't list it.

I think I just need to pack in doing 50 mile rock tracks on an XChallenge ...

Hi Gaz

Yes its the 551, I had a enduro 3 before that and the Xlite beets it hands down, but as the say horses for courses.

I will have a look if the weight is listed on mine in the morning.

Mark

I agree the X-lite is a superb bit of kit, but not a clue on the weight. Not very scientific, but it doesn't feel heavy.

Oops! Just found the spec on t'interweb, sorry Gaz it's 1500g. :(
Still the best helmet I've had though. :thumb
