I have 4 brand new, genuine Ubuntu v6.06 discs, free to good homes if anyone is interested in trying Linux or simply updating. PM me, first come, first served. :thumb

well worth a play IMO, especially as the disc will boot into a "live" version of linux so you can try it without risk of bolloxing up your windows install :)

possibly easier for those with fast connections to d/l this from ubuntu site though :nenau

it's free, i think they'll even send you a disc.

Hi Cookie, you are perfectly correct, you can download this from the Ubuntu site, in fact, lots of Linux distros have a free download facility. The discs I am giving away are in fact from Ubuntu. They sent me 5 discs, so I have 3 left to give away. I have sent one to one GSer already and I'm not even asking postage for them, so if anyone else wants a freebie..............! :thumb

I've got a fast con so I don't need a disk, but go on, convince me I need Linux.

Is it stable?
What's the driver support like now??
App compatability???

What's the killer feature???

I could be tempted, but I like XP a lot..it does everything I want and I can't really find much wrong with it?

worth trying. you don't have to install it (but you can if you like it). it has full function booting off the disc.

i put it on an old pc i had lying around & it just worked staight off. i installed it dual boot with xp.

there is no killer feature IMO, but it works just as well as xp in most respects. installing apps (unless you pick the ones ubuntu will install via it's own manager) is like something from the old testament however :(
