Liquid Motorbike Jacket

I think this is the first liquid motorbike jacket on the market (might also be the last if those prices stay like that).

It's made out of leather and the 3D0 Liquid armor shell. Interesting concept. When it receives a heavy shock, it become hard... if not, it's very light weight.

Ah well, if it works, I guess the technology will come down the chain and get into the high street at a reasonable price eventually

I think it looks nice, the retro look. Not a long distance jacket, just for cruising up to Ace cafe....on your Rocket III, and a load of cash in your pocket...

Does that also go hard under pressure? Ooh Matron!

I saw them demonstrate this material on TV - the guy put a hat made of that material on a watermelon, then proceed to take a full swing at it with full size house hold hammer. All it did was create a hairline crack in the melon. Pretty impressive stuff Not sure about 2 grand tho

Well, the 'mericans are using it to stop bullets, so why not.. and a reasonable price. I wouldn't mind having a real armor that's light and easy to move in, but protective when needed, but not if I have to sell one of the limbs I'm trying to protect...

d3o lab are one of the supporters of my trip to Australia (see www.planitearth.co.uk). The substance that they use is apparently being used for stab resistant jackets for the police in the US.

I am one of their 'Development Atheletes' and have their armour in my jacket (elbows and shoulders). The stuff that I have is a gel/foam like substance. Very comfy, light, breathes well and is much thinner than traditional pads. I have tried whacking my elbow into a wall and seems to do the trick!

By the looks of things, that jacket doesn't contain liquid d3o, but just uses liquid as a model name.

Charles, I do think they use the 3DO stuff, but thin, spread under the leather. The info I got, did state 3DO...
