Well, I thought it might be a good idea to buy a new U lock to use on the r1300GS, so splashed the cash and ordered a LITELOK x3.
It was delivered promptly on Friday ( but sadly, after I had gone on a trip down to the new forest on the R80GS basic)
So today, I decided to se how well it would fit on my bike…. ( r1300gs, spoked wheels)

The short story is “ it doesn’t fit….anywhere”.

So, now reboxed ready to be posted back to litelok tomorrow.
They have a complicated form to fill and email to them stating you are returning…. Sod that, I’m covered by distance selling regulations so just sent the, an email saying “ you’re getting it back, give me a full refund”

I think with some decent redesigning, this could be a very good motorcycle lock, but in its current form it’s about as useful as tits on a fish!

Advice to those thinking of buying one…… be aware it’s a very small shackle, and you may well be returning it. It might fit some bikes, but it’s useless on my r1300gs, and on my R80GS basic.

Mini rant over.
Ride safe

Weird, getting the x3. According to this thread is not a problem.

The X1 is marginally smaller than the X3, and it fits round my wheel and tyre combination, spoked twincam

Well, might not be a problem for some…. But it is for me, and I’m going to return for a refund until that can redesign the lock to be worthwhile for motorcycles.
I believe that are designed for pedal cycles in the first instance.

Yes I struggle with the x1 on my twin cam, fits round the front wheel and tyre (just) but nowhere else. If it was even an inch bigger in each direction it would be really great.

Main issue stopping me getting one is the issue with the lock. Many had issues with inserting the key. Shame, is made in UK. Hiplock is Chinese.

Some comments here

The X1 fits a R1300 GSA with spoked (shown), and my GS with cast. :nenau

The x3 doesn’t fit…. The shaft is too thick.
I should have gone for the x1 by the looks of it….but went for the x3 as it was more robust.

I think LITELOK should speak to loads of bikers to see what they need to do to make their locks a better fit for motorcyclist….then they could sell far more of them.

The x1 wil not go through the brake rotors on the twincam pre 2014 models, due to the reluctor ring being larger

It will go round the wheel/tyre on that model though

fair enough Bubb...just checked some of their website reviews plenty of folk reference a GS/GSA.....eg

Litelok X3
The X3 is a substantial bit of kit. Nicely packaged with a handy neoprene cover, which you could place on your wing mirror as a reminder you lock is on. The locking mechanism is silky smooth and comes with 2 keys which are replaceable through Litelok. It fits nicely through the hub of the BMW GS1300 Adventure and provides a nice theft deterrent.

1250GS - guy has added a vid with X1 and X3

They can be a tight fit I think it's fair to say. Maybe try going across from the other side of the bike if only tried to loop through one side.

They did exactly that . I vaguely know the guy who owns the company , Neil Barron as he’s the brother in law of a mate of mine .
Obviously they should have consulted UKGSER instead .
I’ve got an X1 and have so far used it on four bikes with no issues.

X1 fits my 1250 fine front and rear, plus my Tmax front and rear.

I thought the X3 was slightly bigger ?

It is.
Quite a bit fatter so won’t fit around many wheels. Think it’s designed to be used with a noose chain but of course tossers order it, can’t use it , then blame Litelok, such is the way of this forum . 😀

Are not Sean and Emily using the LiteLok with their GSA1300 , attached to the front wheel ?

Edit Oops , like pic in post #5 etc
Very confused

I’m not blaming anyone. I just cannot fit the x3 on either of my bikes , so it’s going back.
Might look at the x1 as a replacement as the thinner bars look to let it fit through the disc in the manner that the x3 doesn’t.

I still believe a longer throw on the lock would make it better, but as they don’t do one, I will have to keep using the old abus d lock that does fit nicely. Shame really, as I do believe this could be the ultimate bike lock, and British too.
