Thinking of replacing the OEM battery on my 2019 M8 Touring Limited.
Any advice out there on replacing with the Lithium type?
Which one and from whom would be beneficial?

Thanks.

I was told not to bother from the collective when I asked.

I fitted the Antigravity with restart which has worked perfectly plus no need to carry a battery pack as a back up. Loads of different views but for me it works well with the added security should I leave something plugged in and forget

What the fuck is it with people and "lithium" batteries???

Seriously ?? Are you so decrepit an extra 4 kg of Lead acid AGM battery is too much for you ??

Why pay twice the price (Maybe More Especially once you tell them it is a Harley ??)

Is it the ability to say "Oh Farquhar old chap, one has fitted a damn fine effing Lithium Battery, to ones mighty metal steed!"

Lithium is better than lead acid. Move with the times. JJH

It’s all about CCA as far as I’m concerned……the more the better…

I’ve always bought OEM…

Lithium cells are definitely better in terms of weight & volume per Ah, and probably have a lower internal resistance. They die if they are overdischarged, or charged whilst frozen, and they may explode in these circumstances (and maybe others). Batteries typically comprise four cells, and “should have” a battery management system to protect the cells from the environment and vice versa (but my guess is that most don’t). All a BMS can do is turn the battery off if the limits are exceeded, which might be inconvenient.

Lead Acid cells are much cheaper, mostly recyclable, less sensitive to their environment, and most vehicles’ charging systems are designed for them. They don’t catch fire if abused (though they can set fire to other things of course) but they will leak corrosive acid if you break them, and you can burst them by not venting whilst charging. Same is true for batteries comprising typically six cells.

You pays yer money…

Alternative weight saving, one less pie per week…

So you dont like them then ?

Thanks for all the answers. Having always used Lead acid AGM batteries, I was just curious to what others preferred or used.
Whether positive or negative.

Lead acid batteries can explode and when they do it’s quite spectacular. JJH
