As the title suggests, I've got a little bit (less than the size of a 5p) of corrosion near the oil filler on my 800, it seems like the paint has lifted, but it's smooth and no sign of rust.

Is there something I can cover this with, a paint perhaps? I think I recall someone recommending hammerite paint.

There is also a little bit of paint that has lifted from the hub of the front wheel, exposing the metal underneath, this too hasn't generated any rust, but want to get that seen too as well.

Cheers :-)

I was one in the Hammerite camp - i use their railing paint on those bits. I had a leak from the heat exchanger next to the oil filter which at the time of them fixing it didn't peel the paint but later did. Also used on starter motor. And crash bars. And grab rail...

+1 for Hammerite, the satin finish blends in niceley with the BMW paint finish
