Little brother to GS - new version released

Thanks for the link was looking forward to seeing the spec on the new F750gs. Possible new purchase or the older model, thought I would wait.

Disappointed with the on paper engine performance increase, an extra 2bhp ! 850gs get 10bhp more. Perhaps real world riding might prove different.

Looking forward to the first ride reports.

How underwhelming. I expect the fully-spec’ed F850GS with TFT etc will be nudging £12K. And yes that one with the gold rims is an AT clone - odd as Honda have released an adventure version of the AT with almost the same feature set as the 800GSA!

I like that 850GS a lot. But like cars, the top spec ones (i.e. best looking!) creep significantly from base price. Interestingly, on looks alone, the 850GS looks a lot more lithe and agile than the Tiger 800.

Much prefer the look of the KTM that Arsey posted the other day.

Al.

Scrub that, a fully spec’ed out F850 is £13,170!!

Funny. Doesn't look that heavy. Creeping quite quickly into litre plus adv bike weights.

Yes, saw the T800 and based on the video I saw i thought it looked lardy. However, the 850GS is clearly no leightweight in reality as noted above!

Actually quite like the look of that Africa Twin copy. Wouldn't be surprised if, when tested, it proves a worthy adversary to the Honda. But i do like the look of the KTM.

I could easily see myself with medium size off-road/on road bike. I'd have to sell a bike to do it in reality, so it would have to be REALLY good.

Honda have been very clever with the AT.

They have created a very good upper middleweight adventure bike but avoided sending the price through the roof with electronic suspension and other so called 'must have' gizmos. To me, that is the market that the 850GS should be targeting. This segment is very important to the solo rider with luggage going on tour. If you want to go two up with luggage (yes, I know people go around the world on C90s) most choose the next segment up, which includes the 1200GS.

I love my GS but I can see why one of my mates recently chopped in his 18 months old PCP GS and took the cash to a local Honda dealer and rode out in an brand new AT with panniers and topbox for 10K.

Haven't seen one positive comment on any forums or in the press about the exhaust system on the new f850gs so who actually signed off on the choice at the factory because they really need a good kick in the slats

What a missed opportunity for the 850....looks bland and too heavy and expensive. A 1090 KTM looks good value here. I can’t wait to see the Yam....if it looks any thing like the prototype and is half decent on road I think they could have a hit on their hands.

I own a 700gs. On seeing the increase in performance the new bike has, I don't feel in any rush to upgrade.
Like you say, perhaps a ride on one may prove significant.

I've also noticed my panniers are not interchangeable. Bugger.
