Hi all, just bought the new sw motech LED fog/daylight running lights kit .......its asking for taking a feed from the a "switched live" wire ...anyone suggest a wire to take it from?.... or a point me at a place where i can get/buy the lc workshop manual ???

cheers

Andy.

There is a switched live into the diagnosis plug thingy which is where my outcome is fed from

thanks guys :) .... redick, dont suppose you could post or email us a pic of that fed ????

cheers

I could probably do something along those lines tomorrow but if you look under the seat and find the diagnostic plug thing that is clipped in one of those wires which goes to it is a switched live.
Roadcraft rider kindly fitted my auto com for me and powered it from that i think but could be wrong that this also defeats the canbus issue. If you PM him I am sure he can do a better job of explaining than me ( he is an electrical engineer) how he did it

yeah sure, cheers :) its just a case of getting the right wire :-) ...running off a switch on the handlebars so not trying to link it into the headlights (led version (TE))

Here you go !
Possibly not much help but a start

The switched live is one of the red ones ( DER Obvious) and as it is for my outcome there is a relay as well but you can't see that

If I remember correctly that's not the diagnostic plug, it has two fuses in it, you have two non canbus feeds in to that plug and two fused outputs, both feeds are ignition switched, don't ask me what the fuses fead. This is the connection point Rainbow motorbikes lads recommended. You might need a multimeter to work out which is the live side of the fuse.

Then only use it to fead a relay not for load. I would fead your lights straight off the battery and use this fead to power it's relay.

I could be talking complete bollocks about that plug, done a few different bikes last year and mi memory ain't quite what it was, easy way to check is just unplug it and see.

Hope that helps

I tried using the ignition switched live under the seat to power the coil of the spot-lamp relay but found it stayed live for too long after the ignition was switched off changed it to the rear light. The bike's LIN Bus system didn't detect the relay and the spot-lamps work well.

steve , got pic of where you took the feed from on the brake light??... i remember now a few years ago thats where i took it from on a multistrada i had then ...its a good place to use...just had a look on the lc ...can see the plug right at the end of the tail unit underneath but not sure wheres best to tap into it??

cheers guys ...by the looks im going to take a feed off the back of the power socket near the clocks ....ive tested it, and once ignition is turned off the lights stay on for 45 seconds then shut down, so theres no chance of them draining the battery... simple to wire up to , which is a bonus :)

This is what I've used to trigger a PDM60.
