There's a 6 page puff piece in Bike about Lochcarron being potentially hostile to motorcyclists.

Turns out it's not but does illustrate some of the tensions you get in small communities about our filthy passion. One or two NIMBYS getting to the locl council it seems. @A local place, for local people'.

I've been there a few times - nice setting and IIRC a couple of decent stops.

Local people? They're all in Glasgow, Canada, Oz or NZ! The restaurant is owned by a German couple and lots of other incomers run B&Bs.

Bring back the Picts!

Well I'll be about 100 miles north of that this weekend in Lochinver, let's hope they are happy to see me :D

Lochcarron and Applecross is mainly fowk from Huddersfield and the like...

The incoming "locals" are of the very worst type of environmental fascists and the "loca"l locals are inbred wi a touch of Free church thrown in to complete the madness. There's some there like cyclops on speed :D

And Helen was just saying the other day what a reasonable man you were....:augie

I think that Bike Magazine's front cover with its wee bit pasted in the bottom left hand corner.....

VILLAGE IDIOTS
The locals who hate bikes
(and how we cured them)

....is hardly likely to win hearts and minds....

I was through there the other week n the cafe in the middle of the village had a sign in the window motorcyclists welcome the larger the party the better.
The Rockcliff Hotel is a biker freindly place:):)

There's nowt wrong wi' Huddersfield fowk:thumb2

And it certainly ain't the Huddersfield fowk in LochCarron and Applecross who are anti-biker:D, in fact I aint met anyone in either place who is.

Actually, I'll rephrase that, because I remember talking to one local in LochCarron ( a 'local' local - not an incomer) and she was complaining about the horrendously high speeds some bikes are getting up to on the main road back to Inverness.

Fair comment, I thought. It is a cracker of a road for winding it open on......

High speed riding. It'll be all those English riders encouraged by travel & roadtest articles in Bike magazine travelling north to discover the delights of the Highlands and its relatively quiet roads. Local roads for local people ........... send all the English speeders home  before the police start taking notice.

The locals will take care of the english bikers.
