Hello
Is it possible to open a locked and closed system pannier?
I've filed a flat piece of alloy as a tool to retract the retaining wafer
But won't the other wafers stop the barrel from being removed even if I successfully retract the retaining wafer?

I have another barrel to practice on and I'm fairly confident I can retract the wafer.
Am I wasting my time without some proper lock-picking tools?
Alternatively, any tips for drilling the barrel?
Thanks.

If you are sure you can depress the locking tab on the lock barrel, then you should be able to hook the lock straight out.

The locks are very easy to pick. All you have to do is apply a small amount of tension in the direction of the lock rotation and using a small piece of wire or instrument screwdriver, tickle the wafers.

Thanks for all replies and your PM, Nick.
I'll give it another go. If it hooks out easily my confidence about locating the wafer must be wrong.
YouTube only partially of help.
I take it that you do not have a Key?

a proper old fashioned Locksmith will have that out in a few minutes for you
