On my 08 1200GS and Zumo 550 I am presently using the standard Garmin mount on the handlebars that comes in the box when you buy it.
No problem with that as such just that I am a bit paranoid about the screw that holds the Zumo mount to the ball coming loose and the Zumo launching itself down the road at a great rate of knots. I reckon I've got a bit of OCD as I keep checking it is tight and secure on the ball every so often.

I'm not saying that it will ever come loose and fall off but if it did - well it would not be pretty at 70mph. I there a way of guaranteeing it cannot come loose, and also it would be very handy indeed to be able to lock the standard Garmin Zumo mount to the bars so that I can leave on the bike when leaving the bike for short periods (minus Zumo of course).

Threadlock from Lockheed or similar? Mine has never come loose just using my fingers to tighten the nut.

Can we clarify which bit.

In the box you have the zumo cradle plus a RAM mount which comprises clamp bracket + arm + square base (the latter attaches onto the zumo cradle)

If the concern is on the arm, then by tightening the lever knob it compresses the rubber ball and grips like of Miss Fists daughters. The arm can be made tamperproof either a locking knob or this custom tweak (see post 15 on the link)

Yes it's that bit in your picture - screw holding bracket onto handlebar ball and other end on zumo cradle.

What is the lockable option that you mention ?

Option 1 is RAM-knob3L which is a locking puck, replaces the lever knob

Option 2 .. Tossers cheapo and save me money option, is to adapt the bolt assembly in the Arm , see previous post link, use 45mm dome head screw (Torx or Allen key type head) and dome head nut and keep Torx or Allen key in post. Existing bolt thread in imperial is 1/4" -20tpi but you can adapt and use metric option on M6 (?) .. get from a fixings company or in your manor try Allfix (www.allfix.co.uk) in Poole.

Does the RAM-knob3L provide the same solution for the Zumo 660 mount?

Also does anyone know of a good place to get the auxillary socket plug to Zumo 660 lead ready made? (The one under the beak)

Nippy Normans has one from Wunderlich but looks like a different end at the GPS bit. It advertises it for the Zumo 550.

Is it easiest to get one from BMW and make one up as per the stickey thread in this forum?

Thanks for any help

RAM-Knob3L fits any RAM 'B' size 1" ball arm, RAM-B-201, -201-A and -201-C , remove lever knob and screw on, underside has brass thread same thread size as bolt going thru the arm (1/4" - 20). Knob3L comes with two keys, so keep 'em safe :augie

Thanks RAM Man quick response as ever. I will keep a key in my top box that can be unlocked by a bit of plastic
