I hope that I will get to visit the Pyrenees in Sept/Oct later this year. A mix of Spain & France, geopolitics allowing.

Looking at hotels, they ain't cheap now, even in Spain, but there seems to be a definite benefit to steering clear of the big booking sites, especially with Logis hotels as many are now offering relatively good value half board rates on their own website. Sometimes the offer is listed as a business stopover only, others have it for tourists as well.

This one in Bielle is 105 euros a night to include breakfast and dinner. Half way between Pau and the Spain border and near the western end of the Col d'Aubisque.

This one in Quillan, in the Aude Gorge between Andorra and Carcassonne is 95 euros a night, half board. Restaurant Gourmand (gold)

When you consider breakfast is usually 10-15 euros and a 3 course meal is at least 25 euros in France, it seems a decent rate.

I'll review the hotels when I get back.

I use Logis all the time for France and often the “business stopover” option. Only once did i get a comment from an establishment who wasn't happy that we had both booked a business stopover. Apparently the issue comes when those that book the business stopover then want to chose from the a la carte menu which is not part of the deal. The standard menu they serve you under the business stopover is not the same as the A la carte menu so just beware……Never bothered me as the food is normally top nosh even the set menu under the stopover rate.
