Location
Guernsey or Plessala
Planning on a week in Brittany early October with a couple of nights staying somewhere along the Loire/Vienne.
I know the area reasonably well and have stayed in Saumur a few times over the years, most recently at the Mercure overlooking the river.

It’s a nice place with #BMSBIFP but it’s a Mercure.
Quite fancy a nice character place like a nice Logis etc.

Have also stayed in Chinon but not for years and have done Angers and Tours.

This is the area we’re looking at

We stayed here last week, our room did have a bath rather than a shower even though it was a “superior”

The hotel is however extremely well located 2 minutes walk from the center for shops and restaurants

The car park gets full quickly, you should be fine on a bike but we had to park in a nearby public car park on the last night, this was free after 19:00 hrs

There’s a pub in the street run by a cheerful Indian lad who does happy hour from 16:00 every day, good beer €3.50 a pint :D

The Hotel Diderot in Chinon always looks nice when we walk past but we've never been in it. The buildings are part of the old ecclesiastical area and are about 5 mins flat walk to the town square etc and handy for the market and train station (handy to go to Tours). Cracking boulangerie (Boulangerie La Tour de l'Horloge) very close as well. There's a few other hotels around 3* but I suspect you're not looking at that comfort level 🤣🤣

How about:

The Hotel Demeure de la Vignole? In the Caves?

That looks lovely - hope it's as good as it looks (y)

Also hope the weather improves for you - currently raining in Chinon.
It’s a stunning place and very reasonable for what you get !
Yes, a bit of rain this afternoon but looking better tomorrow.
To be honest we’re not that bothered.
Wife is wearing her Rukka Nivala two piece. First time she’s used the trousers and she’s been dry as a bone and I’ve tested out my new bargain Bering laminated Gore-Tex jacket I got from Motolegends for under half price in their Sunday sale a couple of,weeks back. Bloody fantastic.
Screen up on the Wing and it’s quite pleasant pottering about in the rain .

Probably do a little tour tomorrow, taking in Chenonceaux and Chinon then back here for a second night .

Must admit I looked at the prices - they aren't bad at all.

Chenonceaux is gorgeous especially now all the tourists have buggered off. Villandry is also a personal favourite - following shot of the gardens taken from the top of the old tower.

Nice . Will have a look at going there too

Azay Le Rideau is nice, a couple of decent eateries, a chateau to visit, we stayed at this place, clean, comfortable and a decent brekky for France!
