Planning trip via Turkey and Egypt, Sudan, crossing over through Botswana to Namibia. 8 weeks/two months. I am easy on dates but must be back for Christmas. You must have a cheap bike or lots of money (Egyptian Carnet£££). Bikes will come back sea frieght from Capetown. I am retired and did RTW in 2009. (Need one more big trip). I've done Europe to death. Don't really want to do it by myself but will if I have to.
Anybody out there fancy it?

Hi, if you need any advice or assistance in SA just give me a shout. Happy to help if I can. Recently moved over from there so have a lot of knowledge on routes, places to stay, tech support etc

Hi Crashbox
Just logged in after some time away and viewed your trip. I am planning to set off rtw on my own in 2014 after 30 years in fire service. I was going to do Africa first but due to political shenanigans it is too patchwork to go from Morocco to SA and up the other side. So I am thinking of going through Europe to Turkey and then Iran if possible and onwards from there via boat/air or whatever to Asia. It is all very much in the air at the moment but I intend to get into the detail over the next 8 months. If you are interested in discussing ideas happy to discuss ideas. I like your idea as maybe I could get a ship from SA to Asia or if not Australia. Of course cost/logistics may dictate what I do next. I have been considering bikes over last six months and decided on going on my 1200 GS but your comment ref Egypt is interesting!! If no good for you any advice welcome.
Cheers
Gordyman.
