Thanks for your comments guys and glad you enjoyed the report. I've just finished editing a short video so will post it here once completed...
a couple of questions [if i may]'
what were the roads like.
prices against the £.
were you welcomed as some a biker.
thank you.![]()
Hi Ash,
The main roads through to Slovakia ( Germany, Czech Republic and Poland) were fine but stray off to some B roads and they started to deteriorate. Believe it or not the worst road of the whole trip was in fact the Stelvio pass but on the whole they were fine.
Prices against the £ were very good. Slovakia still use their own currency (krowns) and currently the exchange rate is around 32Krowns to the pound. We didn't spend any more than 19 Euros for 1 nights camping in any of the sites and the most expensive hotel we stayed in was the Enzian in Landack, Austria which was 69 Euros each including evening meal and breakfast. I never managed to get more than 30 Euros of fuel in the tank (GSA), so all in all a very reasonable trip....
Every where we went we were made to feel very welcome. All through Austria, Germany and Italy there are signs welcoming bikers to hotels, bars and restaurants.![]()

Worried about your weight??
You shouldn't have stopped doing Kung Fu!!![]()

Top pics mate, looks like some great places you visited.
Perhaps a trip along the same lines could be set up for a few mates to join some time. We could talk about that, cheers mate speak soon.![]()

The following day we needed to get the rear tyre replaced and had to go to Vols (just outside Innsbruk) to find another Tourance.......
After that we headed off towards Germany and after 60 miles found an absoutely fantastic campsite in a very picturesque valley so decided to stop for the day and set up camp.........
We decided to put the tarp up that night as we were told the weather would be turning to shit overnight......
How right they were, we headed off the next morning in pi**ing down rain that stayed with us for most of the day.
As we only had summer clothes with us we headed for the shops in Germany to buy a fleece each as the cold started to get to us.... I don't know what was going on but everywhere was closed.... It was 1100 on a Friday. We finally ended up in a place called Seitz and a BMW dealer who were great, hot coffee and 2 fleeces later we headed off for France....
We stayed near Calais in a crap hotel for our final night and boarded the train for blighty at 1100 the following day..
We both had a fantastic time and Erika has already stated that she wants to do it again but on 2 bikes............. So only need to decide where our next venture is going to take us.......
I have already planted the seed for jacking it all in in a year or two, selling up and fecking off on a RTW trip.......
