I do my long trip planning on PC and data transfer to GPS device(s). This includes LOTS of specific points (Favourites) like cafes, hotels, fuel stops, attractions, etc. In UK and Europe.
All points planned with the help of Google maps alongside.
Then the GPS is loaded with recognisable Favourites, indexed by Category - obviously labelled, Fuel, Hotel, etc.
Then it’s really easy to plan a simple route directly on the GPS whenever you’re out and about, e.g. from where you are to where you want to go, via A, B, C known points that are already stored on your device. HOME for example is the Tesco filling station less than a mile from my house, so the bike always gets tucked up with a full tank.
I’ve happily enjoyed a 2,000+ mile Euro trip, landing every day at my hotel and/or other attraction with pinpoint accuracy.
