Kids were off to a birthday party today, so I volunteered to go the supermarket this morning and buy a present. It was 22C and sunny, so decided to go to Frejus.

Went down across the lake then took the RN7 down across the Esterel to Frejus.

Further along the same road, there's a few tracks into the hill which give fantastic views. Never had time to explore though, as the one supermarket which opens on Sunday was due to close in 20 minutes.

Strolled along the beach at Frejus which was lovely. I'd left the camera in the topbox though:cool:

Came back via the Col du Blavet which is a lovely wee road. Nice views, and the volcanic red rocks shining in the sun. Very scenic

This gives a better idea of the views. Really good road, with great views of the gorge about 2 minutes from where this pic was taken.

Same spot, but looking back down the road.

Then over the other side, we get to the little village of Bagnols en Foret where they've got a bikers cafe

Later in the day, turned out BOTH kids got invited to the party, so went out with the wife up towards the Gorges du Verdon for an hour or so. Never took any photos though, as we were pressed for time. Loads of bikes out though. Summer's here :thumb

I was out yesterday & today and the temp never went over 10C. It was down to 3C when I was coming home tonight :(

Oh, for roads & weather like that ;) Nice pics Franco :thumb2

Wow :blast
Snowing tonight on my way home.
You miss Scotland dont ya :augie

I have missed these wee reports Franco. It's good to see you posting them again. What about a wee run up around Sisteron sometime? That would take me back a bit. :)

Bloody chilly this morning though:eek:

Thanks for replies dudes. I really must do this sort of thing more often
GC I do miss Scotland, just not during the winter :D

Aiden, I haven't been up to Sisteron for a while. I'll wait till the snow melts though:cool

It was 0.5C on the terrace thermometer this morning. This is looking down at the valley on the way to work this morning. There's a big lake down there, and when it's cold the whole valley is full of mist. Nice..

Nice report and lovely photos Franco - I envy you.

I remember staying near Frejus/St Raphael in the late 70's at a little place called Agay. The road along the coast there was a real cracker, all the way up to Cannes. Is it still as good?

I'm staying in a gite just north of Monte Carlo later this year so maybe it'll be worth a visit again. I also remember taking a road through a pine forest up to Bagnols - would this be the same one? I'm pretty sure we went up there for a meal several times. ISTR there was a restaurant with a large terrace looking over the valley, where you could dine and watch the sunset. Wonder if it's still there?

Yup, that road is still there, and still just as good. In fact, I was down there the other weekend. Had a qalk round the Cap du Dramont with the family. Beautiful.
Yup, sounds like the road up to Bagnols from Frejus. The restaurant is still there, but I've never been in it. Let me know if you're in the region, might get time for a beer.

For pity sake, don't let Timorgra see this, he'll have a fit. Lets face it, a shopping trip is a shopping trip, and it'd break poor Timmys heart to see his "ultimate GS" used as a old womans tartan shopping trolly :blast

Mind you, if I lived where you do, Franco, I'd do the groceries on the bike too :thumb
