A friend and I have just completed a 4 night 3 riding day tour in Montenegro organised by Wild Sherpas.

We flew out to Tivat Thursday morning and were met by one of the Wild Sherpas team at the airport and taken to a nearby hotel.

Jeffery, the company owner, met us for lunch to explain what was going to happen over the next few days and give us an opportunity to meet our 3 fellow riders. The rest of the day was ours to have a look around.

Tivat is a harbour town with some incredible super yachts to admire from the waterfront restaurants. Very nice place to spend the afternoon exploring or sitting with a cold beer watching the world go by.

Friday morning we were taken to Jeffrey’s premises to collect our bikes.

Wild Sherpas use 411 and 450 Royal Enfield Himalayans. As I own a 411 I opted to try out a 450.

The bikes are kitted out with soft panniers with plenty of space to carry your kit for 2 nights away and spare gloves, waterproofs etc.

You can leave any other luggage in his garage.

It seems the itinerary is fairly flexible as Jeffrey tries to avoid any localised bad weather or closed roads

I cannot say with any certainty which roads or route we took during the tour but where we rode was amazing.

Jeffrey tries his best to keep to the quiet roads with little or no traffic but breathtaking scenery and superb riding.

Theres a very good mix of riding. There was a small amount of major roads to cover distance when required but it’s no hardship. ( it’s certainly not the M6)
The rest were incredible. Faster sweeping bends on perfect tarmac to very tight single track roads high in the mountains. Wide open moor like areas to thick forrest. We did a little bit of pretty easy off road but nothing that would really worry an off-road virgin and Jeffery would always run it by the group first. Montenegro has some of the best riding I’ve ever done.

The Himalayans were perfect for this tour. Small and nimble and not intimidating but with enough go to really enjoy the ride.

Our second night was spent in Bar, a fairly large town with plenty of places to eat and relive the days riding over a beer.

The third night was in a small hotel outside a town called Kolašin.

There was a restaurant onsite so we ate there that evening.

I get the impression that accommodation isn’t fixed on these tours to try to ensure the best experience for customers.

At the end of the 3rd day we were dropped back at the hotel in Tivat for the night and dropped back at the airport in time for our flights home on Monday morning.

My friend did this tour last year and was full of praise which is why we did it this year.

It’s made me want to visit again and see more of the area but with my wife this time. Probably on my GSA and on larger roads that would suit me better two up on a bigger bike.

That said, if you’re solo or two up a Himalayan works for you and you don’t want to have to ride all the way to Montenegro this has to be the way to go.

Wild Sherpas also do a 5 riding day tour which obviously gives the opportunity to see more.

If you want a long weekend away with superb riding I can highly recommend getting in touch with Wild Sherpas.

As I get older and the idea of spending two of three 8-hr days on the bike becomes less appealing, a fly-ride holiday starts to make more sense. Having a bit more disposable cash helps too!

By the looks of this picture 1792510641988.jpg
You did the Serpentine pass by the looks of it some amazing views form it over Kotor Bay. If you look at he road in the middle of the picture I was told by a local that the architect who designed that road incorporated the M into it to represent the M for Montenegro. (For the cynical it could be a W)

Just back from a tour taking in Montenegro as well as the other Balkan countries. I couldn’t believe how cheap Montenegro was . Eight of us out for a meal was €160 ! Nice roads , bit of an edge in the big cities , quite close to Albania , buy bikes were safe parked outside the hotels and were not touched . A lot of interest in my ASA though with no clutch lever .

So safe, bikes left with keys in them. Parked outside hotel overnight no security. So refreshing.
Can I as if you had any issues crossing borders?
As I said, id like to head down that way on a longer tour travelling from the U.K. on my own bike.

Can I as if you had any issues crossing borders?

the main one is to ensure you use an approved crossing when leaving the Schengen area e.g. Croatia into Bosnia. Some border posts are only there for local residents and will not log you out and back into Schengen.
There was also a post recently about the complexities re. Serbia and Kosovo. https://www.ukgser.com/community/th...croatia-and-beyond-part1.562387/#post-6257775

Also, check your insurance policy as it should cover more than the EU Balkan countries. My policy has Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro included in the 90 days European cover.

Back around 2017ish when travelling from UK to Kotor Bay we crossed in to Bosnia from Croatia without being stopped but we were refused entry at the Montenegro border until we bought insurance, apart from that it was problem free.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Montenegro, Serbia & Bosnia are hoping to join the EU and as part of the preparation, they have joined the pan European motor insurance scheme that includes the UK, EU, CH etc. It's all written on the back of your insurance certificate which replaces a Green Card.

Crossing from Montenegro to Bosnia and you must have your original V5 not a copy . A few in our group had photocopies and were told you are not comic in . They had to go back to Dubrovnik. Otherwise no issues . I had the V5 so rode through Bosnia to Croaría . It’s and interesting placev
