Longitude & Latitude

I am trying to position areas in Mapsource according to their Longitude & Latitude positions. I Have Lat 48:39:52N & Lon 6:08:36E. When I go To The Find tab in Mapsource & then Citys & then Waypoints, then go on the Preferences tab I can pull up the different types of Lon & Lat, but I am unable to guess which one to use. Can anybody out there help?
